Me and my husband booked the gin tasting and tour whilst we was visiting York and I can honestly say this was one of the best I have ever done. When you walk in the atmosphere is electric, the decor is in incredible and all the staff are extremely friendly. The gin tour and tasting was more than worth the money, you got to find out exactly how the gin was made however they add their own little stories and humor to keep you hooked! After the gin tour we found a cute little spot and had the privilege of meeting the owner who was extremely friendly and welcoming to all customers. I would highly recommend shootings not just for its extremely tasty gin but the atmosphere and the staff! X

We did the distillery tour with Mark, who was really engaging and knowledgeable. He shared lots of stories about the origins of the distillery, the signature gins and how the bar in York was set up. Lots of (generously sized) samples were enjoyed. All in all a nice afternoon, we would recommend to gin lovers or anybody wanting something different to do when visiting York.

I’m from the night out to McMillan’s era of this building, and what a difference it now is years later. The tiger tiger cocktail is probably the best cocktail Iv ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful and the interior design is spot on, comfortable and relaxing. This is defiantly now on my regular place to visit radar.

The Hooting Owl has just registered new levels of taste, comfort, and service. A feast for your senses. Look in every corner, every wall, every table and there is some art, picture, or book to look at and smile. The Hooting Owl is not just the most classy place to visit, it also has 3 working copper stills to watch in action producing a range of Gins, Rums, and Vodkas.

The choices at the stunning bar are not just the Hooting Owl, Tipsy Frog branded spirits but a great choices of Lagers, Beers, IPA, and my favourite, the milkstout finished with toasted coconut and Vanilla. Erin and Tom helped the enjoyment with stories about the Individual pieces adorning the walls and tables.
I love it....and will return, often. A gem like this needs to appreciated at different times of the day, over different days. Our visit was Sunday afternoon, but I'm betting the atmosphere in the night with curtains drawn will transform this wonderful place into yet another level.

Massive credit to the independent team responsible for bringing to York this unique distillery and bar to enjoy a drink in, with tasteful background music, oppulent surroundings, with a very reasonably priced drinks. Love the place.

Absolutely fantastic. Tour is really informative about gin making, York and Yorkshire. Plus a snippet of military history. Our tour included food and the pizza was one of the best ever tasted.
Beautiful venue and decor, almost don't want to review it so it can be a secret gem!!!

Fantastic place with very comfortable seating, perfect to have a nice quiet drink. The staff are naturally very friendly and offer table service. Their drinks menu offers plenty of choice, including the spirits that they distil on site!! Go upstairs to sit on a throne ?.. A clear 10 out of 10 - would recommend to anyone visiting York
