Went to a wine tasting event at Byrnes. Fantastic night. Great wines and a decent measure too ? along with a lovely spread of nibbles and canapés. Well worth the £10 per person ticket price. Great value

The shop gets rave reviews from people wowed by its charm, but to be honest there are better wine shops with wider choice available. I think there's a certain amount of trading on reputation going on, and things could be more straightforward. The cellars beneath the shop are small and, really, have limited stock. The adding up of the prices of your wine purchases by hand on a piece of paper is a silly affectation, no matter how quaint it appears the first time you see it. You'd be better off visiting their warehouse just down the road, which has much more stock, or using their online wine lists to order what you want and have it sent to your home. Oh, and the website about the shop... not the wine list, to be clear... is way out of date, telling us about covid era precautions. And another suggestion: compare prices with other suppliers. You may well find what you want more cheaply elsewhere.

This place is an amazing treasure trove for wine! Stacked from floor to ceiling, on shelves, in boxes, behind counters, across multiple rooms, patrons will have a delightful time browsing the immense collection of red, white and rose wines from many countries! From well known vineyards to lesser known ones, from affordable to crazily expensive bottles, you will find all sorts here. Besides wine, there's a fair bit of whiskey, gin and champagne. And should you be frustrated with the choices, do approach the friendly staff who are more than happy to help you make your selection!! I'm not a wine drinker but it was just so Interesting to browse the collection! And the awards hung up on the shelves are testament to the quality of not just the alcohol but to the staff as well for keeping this well managed and stocked!! Side note: the shop is not wheelchair friendly. The side rooms need steps to access them. Also, do leave your bags at the front room and be very careful moving about the store!

When you walk in don't be fooled by the small initial space. It's goes on for ages! It feels like they have every wine and whisky you can think of!! For such a small local family run shop I was quite impressed!
And the prices really are not that bad!

What a shop! I wasn’t sure if they’d have the things I was looking for but honestly give it a go! I have been ordering spirits online for so long when I could have got them here. Well I know my regular haunt now! Wether you want vermouth, grappa, tequila, mezcal, whiskey (from around the world), rums and of course wine, they will have a great selection. I’ve only just looked in the rooms off to the side. It’s like a wine museum! Worth a visit.

I was in the area and needed a special birthday present for our son in law. Having shopped at Byrnes in the 90s and moved away, it was a stop I had to make. Not only did we get the special birthday present of Japanese Whiskey, but I also make an impulse buy of some very nice Torres wines! Highly recommended and worth the 3 hr drive! Keep up your amazing work.

Great place to spend an hour or two. Very knowledgeable staff. You can find literally any wine or spirit you can think of . The 'shop' is very well stocked and we'll be back again. Thanks for the experience

This is a fabulous wine & spirits merchant. I visit every couple of years, and am always blown away by the variety of wine and the unique cellar. Always good conversation with other customers too. This is how specialist retail should be - great product, knowledgeable staff, unique location.
