I've been going along with everyone else praising Allison's chemist and agreeing with the 'use it or lose it' stance. HOWEVER - after decades of being loyal customer I recently had cause to ask to return a just-opened and unused blood pressure monitor (bought 2 days previously from Allison's) because the cuff didn't fit. This monitor had been sold from off the shelf BEHIND the counter and put into a bag before being passed to me. I didn't know there were different sized cuffs. I wasn't given the opportunity to read the box or the instructions. The pharmacist's response was that I couldn't have my money back as it wasn't their job to advise that cuff sizes could be different. Wow, you really don't know what a store is really like until you have cause to ask (extremely politely) for reasonable customer service. I can afford to lose the £25 I paid and buy another on next day delivery from Amazon for £16.79. And obviously Allison's can afford to lose another customer. Because Boot's does a very reasonable service too.

In reply to Allison's reply to my review. 1. I did not threaten a BAD review, I told you that I was suffering from hypertension and had no desire to further increase my blood pressure, I would just leave an HONEST review. Very different! It was you who assumed it would be a bad review - I wonder why? 2. There was no seal on the box when I opened it. 3. It was not used - I told you this very clearly - it was merely opened. 4. I was not offered the box to read in the shop - and if I had been I would not have been able to read it as I need different glasses to do so. 5. From the very start of our telephone conversation today you were not listening to me, just spouting off trying to fob off a customer. 6. You (the person I spoke to on the telephone today) didn't even serve me on the 30th of January, you weren't visible in the shop. All I did was as for an exchange or refund. That's a pretty common and reasonable expectation for an unused product. And now you come on here trying to wriggle out of my extremely honest review and lying about the sale and our conversation. For you it's all just about money isn't it? For a measly £25. Really? Really

(Oh, and I'm buying a different brand for £16.79 because it has BETTER reviews on Amazon than the brand you sell. But thanks for letting everyone know they can get next-day delivery with 30 days returns guaranteed for £3 less than you sell the same branded product for - with no returns and an unpleasant consumer experience.)

Pathetic, waited for 10 mins. No one attended. Many locals were attended , chit chatting with locals, but no one even bothered to behave that I was waiting.

Brilliant local pharmacy, so helpful and informative, as well as being so handily located in the town centre. Lots of interesting other items which are great for presents or treats.

A small locally owned Chemist and Pharmacy. They also offer vaccination services for the NHS covid and flu programme either in store or at another local location depending on the day of the week.
A good range of interesting gift products stocked as well.
Staff are always friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

I love this pharmacy, the staff are very helpful, friendly and obliging. They fill and deliver prescriptions, give flue and travel injections, and sell a range of products for the home or gifts .

An absolutely delightful pharmacy to visit as well as having a dispensary it has some lovely gift ideas and many other knick knacks. The staff are wonderfully friendly and nothing absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them and they are all always willing to go the extra mile to provide an excellent service and always with a smile. A great little shop and we'll worth a look

Best chemist in town. Excellent gift shop for while you wait for prescription to be dispensed. Staff super friendly. Matt is a very personable dispensing chemist and writes really good articles in the Cockermouth Post.
