My partner and I recently visited the beautiful Lyme House, and it was a charming experience despite the ongoing renovations. The renovations did not detract from the amazing house and gardens.

We were captivated by the stunning architecture and well-maintained gardens. Each corner of the property offered something special, whether it was the historical interiors or the calm outdoor spaces.

The atmosphere was peaceful and perfect for a couple’s day out. The staff were friendly and informative, making our visit even more enjoyable.

Overall, Lyme House is a gem worth visiting, and we look forward to returning once the renovations are complete to see it in its full glory.

Amazing place. Only half an hour drive from Manchester(or 25 mins on bus from Stockport). There is a deer sanctuary, my son was excited to see them up close. The view from the hill top is worth the hike.

Only issue is: if you want to hike the hills, choose a sunny day or non-rainy day (which is usually rare in Manchester). The mansion is not usually open every day. The mansion also closes early. So, better check it on the National Trust app.

But, Once here, do the hikes. You can sense the beauty of the peak district from here.

Bottom line: worth a visit. My son rated it 11/10. That is, more than excellent - as he says.

Christmas walk around Lyme park. Sunny day, wide open spaces, blue sky and so quiet you can hear yourself think. Don't remember feeling so relaxed and in peace. Most wonderful location

A must see for any Pride & Prejudice fan. We had a wonderful visit even in the rain! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The gift shop is amazing. The cafe by the parking lot has DELICIOUS bacon rolls and great coffee! There is even a shuttle van to give you a ride to the house. The woman who was working in the courtyard area was so friendly and funny I felt like I was talking to a friend. Dog friendly walks. Clean bathrooms. Amazing views. Gorgeous gardens.

Beautiful place to wander around for a day. The staff in the house are very knowledgeable and love sharing information with you, so be sure to go inside if you can! The garden was also a good sight to walk around, even in autumn. Great place to get your steps in!

Lyme Park and House are fantastic!
The National Trust do such wonderful work with the upkeep of this grand 600 yr old house and its estate.
A step back in time wandering through all the lavish and finely decorated rooms, getting a glimpse how the rich and famous of the day once lived.
We arrived at lunchtime, which was a little late than expected, we would have preferred more time. Give yourself a good half day at least to make sure you get to see everything at a leisurely pace, and to take in all the houses history and stories.

Lovely park with great views and lots of areas to visit. I specifically went bc there were supposed to be Highland cows there and I wanted to see them (and of course to see the views/park).
I saw them and they’re so cute!

I went on a cloudy day around 2:30pm. It started raining lightly an hour later. Still worth the visit even in dreary weather.

I deducted one star because it’s £7 per adult to enter the park and only tour the park itself. It costs more if you want to add a visit to Lyme House. Bit pricey.

Beautiful walk into the park from Pott Shrigley on one of the last snowy days. Magical place with lots of families sledging, making the most of the snow before it goes.
Access into the park is free for walkers.
Had a bacon and egg barm and a coffee from the kiosk at the car park. A little expensive at just over £9 but much needed and the service was quick and efficient.
