What a lovely listed building and a perfect place to stay. The excellent service from the staff made us feel so welcome and always greeted us with a warm hello. Having ran a couple of hotel’s in the past, I know how important customer service is and so to the staff here. The room was spacious, clean and fresh with comfortable beds so I had the best sleep in ages. We were afforded stunning views from our twin room 68, down in to Lynmouth, out towards the Bristol channel, Wales and the north devon coast. |If you want a great location, easy access and value for money, don’t look any further. |We’re already planning to return later this year.

Stayed for 2 nights. Huge bedroom with views to the town. Don't know if this was classed as a double but the room warranted a king size bed. Good hot shower although the bathroom was a little bit dated. Shower gel/shampoo provided. Staff very friendly. Managed to park on the road as we didn't book their parking which is £6 per day but booking is advised especially in the summer months when it is busier however there are car parks nearby. Didn't have the breakfast. Very dog friendly

Mixed feelings. The location is great, although no parking, but there is a nearby open public carpark free between 6pm and 10am so not horrible….
We got an upgrade to a sea-view room (see picture) which was amazing but the room itself was not up to a decent standard i would expect. Mould in bathroom, dirt on the floor, dirty walls, needs lot of TLC…
It is debatable if £43 a night is acceptable for this standard? For this price i am okay with minimal amenity but still expecting the place to be clean. It’s a shame because the bathroom has been partially renovated but whoever cleans it, is not keeping up on top of it.
Those comments have been shared on check out, so I hope management does something with it.

Every member of staff I came in contact with was so friendly and helpful. My dog was welcomed like an old friend too. Our room on the second floor was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a shower. Heating was freely available in the room. Did not have breakfast so can't comment. On site car park was £6 for a night. Downstairs areas were very nice and indicative of the old days when this beautiful hotel was probably the jewel in the crown. Yes there are tired elements for sure. The grounds are glorious and the gardner was working away. Wonderful views of the coastline too. I would happily stay here again... Many thanks.

We had a spacious room overlooking the sea. The staff were pleasant and helpful. They did not provide meals or sell drinks but it is very close to other places that do. It was reasonably priced and some lovely shops to explore and good walks nearby.

Pictures look better than reality. Our room was very dark and it had old smell in it. The room was very cold. Radiators didn’t work properly and we had very big draft coming through the window. During the night we had back pain from very old and worn out mattress.
Staff were helpful to move us to an upgraded room. Which was with better view and it was more spaces. I can’t say that it was very clean. The toilet bottom was very dusty and dirty. The shower didn’t work with hot water unless you heat up the boiler for few hours. And water wasn’t going away.
What can I say… it needs a lot of work. It’s not worth the money.

My stay at this hotel was completely unpleasant. The bedding was mouldy and had a horrible smell. The water wasn’t suitable for showering at all, especially if you have a young child. Due to these issues, I decided to leave early. The management agreed to refund me, but they never actually paid. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place!

Our room definitely needed some work.

The shower did not drain very well and flooded the bathroom, the TV did not work, and was hanging from the wall by two screws about to fall out and the bed mattress was very old with failing springs.

The door from our room into the hallway had a large air gap underneath, which meant lots of noise and light from the hallway comes Into the room.

The service was very friendly and helpful, sadly there is not good access to parking for the hotel though.

We also did not eat at the hotel as it was fully booked before we even arrived, not sure if this is good (restaurant is popular), or the restaurant just last limited seating, either way it was not ideal that they could not host us for dinner.

The location was pretty convenient, being close to shops and the water access and the price per night was very good.

This is definitely a budget orientated hotel.
