I had a voucher for my birthday and today we had a great cream tea, I had messaged to say that I had allergies so I had a separate plate to my husband. The waitress ensured all was ok for my needs. |Sandwiches were lovely and the scones warm and light. The selection of cakes great with as much yea as we could drink, |Great value for money and a lovely tea.

I recently had a very disappointing two night break here with my husband .|We were allocated a room over looking the bins and above the kitchen extraction fan, with a view of a derelict stable block and a full skip despite the hotel being far from full. First thing we noticed in the room was the serious mould on the window frames, the dust and the dodgy carpet stains. Not the best start.|We went for a look at the pool but decided that it was just too grotty an area to even contemplate swimming in. Heaven only knows what bacteria and diseases were lurking in there!||We were booked in for dinner on our first night. The dining room had only 5 covers the whole time we were sat there ( including us )and even with that, the main course took 45 minutes to arrive. My chicken was so dry that it skated across the plate when I tried to stick my fork in it and I counted just 16 kernels of sweetcorn as my vegetable. Unfortunately, despite the dining room being very quiet, no one came to ask us if our meal was ok. And it wasn’t! ||Our sleep was interrupted continuously by the loud extraction fan from the kitchen and the very thin bedroom walls that had me thinking Niagra falls were behind the bed when next door obviously went to the loo throughout the night. ||Breakfast buffet was like something from a 1970s boarding house , a fruit basket consisting of a few hard pears and a very bruised grapefruit. We had to ask for sugar for our cereal as only sweetener sachets and sugar cubes were on the table. No honey provided either. The breakfast girl on duty had to go and hunt for sugar sticks by which time our cereal was soggy. All very odd for an hotel.||We had no housekeeping in the room during our stay and when I asked at reception about this, I was asked if I had requested it ? No mention of this being necessary when we checked in. I’m happy to make my own bed but the bin being emptied would have been nice and replenishment of the tea, coffee and milk would have been appreciated .|.|The young girl serving breakfast was the only staff member with a smile that we saw over our two day stay. Even when we checked out, there were no pleasantries from the receptionist, “not even a goodbye or safe home “||All in all, not a relaxing or pleasant stay and I certainly would not recommend booking this hotel. The whole place needs a thorough scrub along with repainting and the staff require training in customer service and also how to smile.

Wonderful hotel in an exceptional location, the staff are welcoming, polite and generally brilliant. ||||The hotel is a very old building so it has its quirks but it is well maintained and clean as a whistle, the history of the property can be found throughout the building on the walls in various letters and documents which was fascinating.|| ||The rooms we've stayed in have both been of a good size, well decorated, bright, warm and with large comfy beds. ||||It is fairly expensive but you get what you pay for. ||The pool is really nice but the room its in could use a little touching up in places.||||We didn't have breakfast on this trip but last time we stayed it was delicious and plentiful and the dining staff we're also fantastic.||||My only major regret is that our trip was only two days.

Beautiful location and setting. the drive up could be improved, due to pot holes. The only grip i have is the pillows were a bit soft and we were on the top floor with the outside lights on continually which li the bedroom like it was day. It would be great if they could be dimed .

Delightful experience. The afternoon tea was everything you could hope for, lashings of jam and cream for the scones, yummy sandwiches and delicious sweet treats topped off by big pots of tea. ||The location is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is in a great, quiet location and it is a very beautiful building. The room was clean and pleasant, but it wasn't quite what I expected. Through Trip I thought I had booked one room up from the smallest option, but alas turns out I had not! The bed was also advertised as a standard double, it definitely is not in the smaller rooms, it is a small double, and this made sleeping for two a little uncomfortable. The room was also very hot even though we turned the radiator off and had the window open all night but I think this is just due to it being an older building, heat rises etc. The pool room really needs TLC. It is very overlooked and we felt really lets the hotel down. It's shame as it's a lovely space - even a quick lick of paint would bring it back to life if money doesn't allow for larger maintenance. Staff were all very friendly, especially the two we were served by in the restaurant for dinner. The food was okay but a little over priced but the service made up for that. All in all for a quick overnight stop it was fine.

Had very nice stay over the weekend, room was just redone and was amazing. Dinner was absolutely amazing although the service took slightly longer than expected. The location is beautiful with lots of good dog walks. The pool was great however the sauna did look slightly more like a shed than a sauna.
Good place
Lovely stay

Lovely country hotel on the edge of the forest. Have stayed here in the past, and the room was cosy, old fashioned (in a good way) and very comfy.
Food quality is excellent. Breakfast, Dinner and afternoon tea, all very good.
