This was one of the most interesting brewery tours we’ve been on. Alex was excellent at explaining the different stages and processes used to make their beers. I’m so used to seeing Arkell’s pubs & menus around Swindon but didn’t realise the history behind them & I love the fact that they use a lot of traditional methods to brew beer. I normally just tag along with my husband when he wants to do a brewery tour so I initially thought “oh maybe I should take my book” but I’m pleased to say no book needed, I thoroughly enjoyed it & would highly recommended this tour.

We have done 9 brewery tours across England and this rates as one of the best. Phil was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and answered all the questions raised by a pretty well clued up tour group. It was good to meet the man in charge too. Also an interesting and very old process.
The shop too was very good and extremely well stocked with wines, etc.
do wear thermals though. It was freezing.

A great afternoon's brewery tour at Arkell's in Swindon. Phil was an engaging guide; forty years of experience enabled him to outline the 180+ years history of the company and explain the brewing processes as we progressed around the historic buildings. We saw the machinery - much of which is still in daily use. And of course a chance to sample some of their excellent beers and then buy some bottles. There is also a wide selection of wines and spirits in the Grape & Grain warehouse 'off license' - which I now know is open to the public, so we can call in when necessary.

Amazing tour of the brewery with Phil. A behind the scenes glimpse of the brewery in action, really knowledgeable guide who could answer any question. Obviously brilliant tasters at the end too. Wednesday afternoons for the rest of 2023, get in there before they stop doing tours again! Can’t recommend highly enough.

We had a great tour of this historic brewery, one of the few remaining tower breweries in the country. Our guide, Phil, was a fount of knowledge on local history and on all things beer and brewing. It was refreshing to witness the infectious passion all the staff have for this 180 year old business now run by the sixth generation of the founding family. Definitely worth visiting if you are in or passing Swindon (only a couple of minutes from the A419).

Fantastic day out! We did the brewery tour of Arkells at the end of December. Our tour guide Phil was very knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. His stories and facts really brought the tour to life.

It is incredible how much history there is in this brewery and business and it was fascinating to see it up close after driving past the brewery regularly for so many years without actually going inside to see it.

As brewery tours go, this one is unique given you really do get to go and see where the beer is made and see behind the scenes. Often, during more modern brewery tours, you don't the chance to see the process so up close. The history, charm and beauty of this Victorian steam brewery is more than worth a visit. 5 stars and thank you!

The beer tasting at the end was also great, with lots of choice and generous servings!
