I went to see The Little Mermaid which was put on by Colchester Operatic Society. It was an amazing show and the Mercury Theatre is lovely. The auditorium is spacious with great views, the staff working at the Mercury Theatre are lovely and very professional. The stage is very big and the auditorium and stage area is beautiful.

Great for the disabled really good area on the balcony but have to book up early. my son could get about on his electric wheelchair on the lift and in the box,
Everyone at the mercury were so very helpful.

Lovely theatre with comfortable seats and clear views of the stage. Pleasant bar area too. Signage could be clearer for the toilets.

The 39 Steps
Attended the matinee performance on 13th March. A truly superb and entertaining performance sadly marred by a constant stream of clearly audible radio messages received by the member of theatre staff standing by the door, to which he occasionally responded with little regard for the performers or the audience.
A very disappointing display of mindless indifference and contempt for others.

Love having The Mercury in our City. Last week Abigail's Party. This week Dom Joly with his Conspiracy Tourist Tour. Great venue, great choice of productions, good food and drink choice.

Brilliant theatre - good view from any seat. Never seen so many children sit still and quiet! Snow White and Rose Red nicely done by Let'a All Dance Ballet Company. No deaths in this version 😅 Great café.

We visited on Sunday 15th December to see the matinee performance of the Peter Pan panto.

The panto itself was really good, lots of laughs, great cast, and the staging and lighting really added to the experience.

The venue is not so great if you have any kind of social anxiety or sensory overload issues.

The bar was chaotic - there is no clear queue, and while you are waiting to be served you feel in the way because of how the tables are positioned, and how close the bar is to some pillars.

The serving staff were really friendly, but service was very slow - we waited over ten minutes for a milkshake to be made, having had the rest of our drinks.

Merchandise to go with the panto was quite expensive - £30 for a crocodile puppet (and the crocodile does not feature in this panto) although there are light up toys from £8 (less expensive but costly for what they are).

If you have mobility issues, my experience is that it will be difficult to move around the building. Presumably there is a lift, but we could not see it.

The seats are comfortable, and they are tiered so you get a good view of the stage - they are small though, and there are no cupholders, so you end up juggling things a bit.

A second visit would be easier to manage in terms of anxiety and sensory issues now I know what to expect, and I would definitely return - there looks to be some really good shows coming up.

Went to the pantomime that had captions. It was the best pantomime I have seen in years with amazing staff and theatre. Highly recommended will be returning next year. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful evening and experience.
