No parking available only street parking available which is limited... the food was good and well prepared. The place is small so I would highly recommend making a booking here. I could see that they had a regular number of people eating there a few large groups so considering the size of the place it seemed busy. I ate on a Tuesday night and the restaurant provide a banquet set menu should you wish it. This means you get a starter and then a main consisting of a vegetable dish + rice or naan bread or chapatti + your main meat dish for £11.95 each. For 2 people a bottled water and a glass of prosecco our final bill ar to just under £40

I always have a good meal at Markyate Spice, the staff are so friendly and I am always made to feel welcome. There is a lot of choice on the menu, something for everyone.

We have been ordering from this restaurant for about 7 years and have noticed a gradual erosion of the standardof cooking. We have ordered twice this year and have just been very disappointed with the food. We ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani and another chicken curry. There was absolutely no difference in taste between any of the curries. One curry was supposed to be flavoured with garam masala but there was virtually no sign of it. The chicken pieces were hard and seriously over cooked in each of the curries. The Biryani did not resemble a Biryani in any way at all. In one curry there was a total absence of spice, no ginger, nothing. Just a bland mix of hard chicken in a flavourless range of sauces filled with large chunks of onions and peppers. We have given this restaurant so many chances, but have now gone to another Indian restaurant in the village which was head and shoulders above this. Sorry to have to leave this review but honesty is required.

Very quiet on the thurs night we went with just us and one other table occupied. Food was quick and large range to choose from inc regional dishes as well as standard dishes. We went for chef specials. Only thing wish could be improved is descriptions so you know if e.g small side salad inc on main dish or type of ingredients inc. E.g when a dish had "cheese" we were thinking a nice paneer but wasn't this. Generally happy and would go back. Apparently this chef is a joint winner with a dozen or so others of a national curry competition of over a thousand entrants according to a banner and quick google search to see details. Service good but as mentioned also quiet.
