I ordered a Bach Stradivarius Trumpet for my son's 18th birthday.
I didn't realise it would be custom made.
Alastair guided me through the options, and explained things I had no idea about.
The instrument arrived this morning, my son is over the moon, says it plays and feels fantastic. I can say honestly that it sounds fantastic too.
The gig bag was a nice, unexpected , surprise. Plenty of room for his cornet, or a selection of mutes.

Absolutely fantastic company to work with. Our adult son has been playing clarinet for 17 years and Hanson created his very first African Blackwood plateau clarinet. From great phone calls with Alastair Hanson, the wonderful attention to detail, quick and safe UPS delivery and craftsmanship the new clarinet arrived today. Fantastic place. Since we moved to the area Hanson's has been our "go-to" place for all things musical. Always a friendly welcome and honest advice from knowledgeable staff. On a couple of occasions we've been advised not to buy anything from them - but instead go away and use other options. Counter-intuitive you might say for a business which surely survives off sales; but instead they are focussed on providing a great service to customers/visitors rather than trying to make a few extra quid.

I ordered a piccolo trumpet from America. The trumpet wasn’t coming in until 7 months after I ordered it and when I emailed them they immediately found another option. The Hanson made piccolo trumpet I received plays great and the staff are very kind and helpful.

I've had nothing but good experiences with this place. They have the most beautiful collection of saxophones, clarinets, flutes, brass, strings and more. They have amazing vintage horns as well as brand new Hanson XL's, all can be play tested by the customers. the staff are really helpful. The instruments available are top quality and affordable. to top it off they do excellent repairs and services. Which are free for several years after if you buy one of their instruments. I can safely say its the best shop for saxophonists like myself in all of the north of England. possibly the whole UK

Visited the store yesterday with a view to upgrade my tenor. Received the best service I have ever had in a music shop. Alastair was extremely helpful and advised me on my mouth piece setup as well as letting me try various instruments. Everyone was extremely generous with their time and I felt under no pressure to make a decision. Once I found the sax I wanted, a ST8, he made me a great offer for my student horn which wasn't far off what I could have got privately. As well as an amazing instrument at a great price add in 5 years free servicing and repairs and you would be daft not to visit.
