Very good site with straightforward walk into Barnard Castle.
Usual good clean standard of the club but I must mention the showers; excellent. Had a tap, not a short spurt push button. And you could adjust the temperature! Bit chilly when we went, so hot required. But if it was warm out then cool required.

Lovely site with well-kept facilities and friendly wardens. The toilet and shower facilities are kept very clean. There are no push buttons on the showers either, which is always nice. They have electric hookup available, and there's a washing machine and tumble dryer if you need it. The washing machine fits a very large load and is ยฃ3.50 per wash, which is a good price compared to the laundrette prices.
I stayed for four nights and the site was very peaceful. There's a public footpath which goes all the way into the town, but some of it goes through the woods so unfortunately it's not wheelchair friendly.
Would happily stay here again.

Very friendly welcome, all amenities clearly explained, not too full so given a choice of pitches. Immaculate as expected from club site. Handy location for stop over.

Not a hotel but a caravan and camping site near Lartington. Very simple but good facilities. Close to Barnard Castle town for shopping and arts at The Wytham (Great!)
Teesdale is a quieter area but absolutely wonderful for wildlife. Visit High Force (read LJ Ross, too) but the reservoirs and dams are impressive. High Pennine scenery above BC Tees river plain below.

This a fantastic site in the countryside just outside Barnard Castle The staff are vey helpful and polite.
Unfortunately I was walking my two spaniels when they were attacked by a German Shepard which was not on a lead - fortunately no injuries were caused. The incident was witnessed by several other campers who all approached us later to check on the wellbeing of my dogs.
I reported the incident to site staff who dealt with the issue professionally politely even supplying rope to help the German Shepard owner secure his dog.
Club rules are clear dogs on leads and under control at all times.
Due to what was witnessed I suspect a number of campers may have reported what they saw.
The German Shepard owner left the next morning at the request of site wardens.

So what can be I say about Barnard Castle - it is a well maintained site staffed by very professional polite courteous site staff who are credit to there club.
The site is clean very well kept and the staff well - helpful friendly polite caring are just a few words to describe how they provide the service to site users.

Definitely recommend this site and we will be looking to return in the future.

Out of all the CCC sites we've been to, this is the only one we wouldn't return. As others have mentioned, the pig farm next door is noisy and smelly but most importantly, the facilities are well overdue an update/upgrade/expansion. Mouldy showers, and only 3 showers and 3 toilets in the gents is nowhere near enough for the size of the site. Staff lovely as always though.

Very friendly and helpful staff (especially Big John if your reversing skills are rusty). Big plots, the services block is very slightly tired but very clean. There are good walks immediately adjacent to the location and itโ€™s dog-friendly. |A minor criticism would be that the loos etc., are closed from 10:30 to 12 each day leaving just one family room and the disabled loos only for key-holders available. Weโ€™d respectfully suggest that the blanket closing of the facilities for an hour and a half every day is over the top but if that situation is to remain then could the disabled facilities also be made available generally during that time?

Staff are very friendly. Clean and tidy site. Decent dog walking directly from site and you can walk through a lovely woodland in to Barnard Castle.
Road in is a single track road (a few small passing places) some bends and quite a hill to get over!
Major downside (and the reason we wouldnโ€™t come back) is the location. It is right at the edge of a pig farm. They are barn kept and never see grass/day, animals kept in a stressful environment so the fighting is constant. The sound and smell really carry, the smell I can cope with but the sound is horrible to hear and starts early morning until evening. It really is not nice! So depending on where you are on the site will make all the difference to your stay.
