I called up Monday morning and spoke to Richard, looking for a quote for a resonator delete on a Focus MK2. Not an ST or RS, so a bit of an unusual - although thankfully straightforward - job; I'd done my homework beforehand so I was able to give Richard a good description of the geometry, so quoting wasn't an issue.

Gave me a price which was just over half what Powerflow and the ilk wanted, provided everything matched up to what I'd described, so I asked when he could fit me in. Was told that if I could bring it down now they could fit me in, otherwise it could be a couple of weeks, so I said "see you in 30".

When I arrived, I spoke to a chap named Stuart who had me put the car up on the lift and took a look at the layout; as I'd expected it was pretty straightforward, so while I popped to the shops for some cash he got to work. By the time I'd gotten back, the old resonator had been removed and cut, and the new pipework was being fabricated.

A short while later, everything was fitted; he also went to the trouble of repairing a broken rear hanger clamp which he'd noticed once it was up on the lift, something I hadn't even noticed beforehand, and I wasn't charged any extra for it.

Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly, welcoming, and there was no objection to me being present during the job and even - and this is much appreciated, as someone who does most of his own repairs - letting me have a poke about under my car while it was up on the lift.

The entire process, from start to finish, was ridiculously smooth and enjoyable. And I haven't even mentioned the actual quality of the work, which was great. I'll attach some photos to this review so folks can judge for themselves.

As an example of how these guys honestly went above and beyond what they needed to, the factory exhaust flange coming off the flexi has a higher bore diameter than the rest of the system; Ford's solution to this was simply to just say "oh well" and blank it off with a smaller flange bore on the resonator section.

Stuart noticed this, and tapered the replacement pipe section from the larger bore down to the 2 inches of the rest of the system. There was literally no reason to do this for a non-performance exhaust, and probably cost him another 10 minutes of forming for the sake of nothing more than doing things "the right way". Absolute legend.

To be clear, this is not a hack off the old bits & weld-in replacements garage, this is an old school fabrication house who just so happen to be able to also fit them to the vehicle. Didn't think anywhere like this still existed, and I'm extremely thankful that they do.

Oh, and the sound is EXACTLY what I was looking for, as you can probably tell from the video.
