I had a wonderful experience at your restaurant in Botley Village “The Old Mill” restaurant. Free 1 hour parking. The staff were incredibly pleasant and welcoming, and the food was delicious. One small suggestion: consider adding a kid’s menu. Overall, a delightful visit, and I look forward to returning. Thank you!

Amazing Sunday roast. Having to pay a deposit and preorder food was a bit annoying but entirely worth it for the quality of our meals and the service provided. The staff were also lovely to my mum on her birthday. Very impressed.

Sadly not up to the standard we expected. We dined in the main restaurant, it felt lacklustre in terms of decor and lighting, even our table light battery was empty. Menu over sold and under delivered. To be fair the starters were ok, but very overpriced for the fine dining portion sizing. The mains were really average hence the average review. The seabass was like it had been cooked covered, soggy skin, not pan fried style as the meat read. The pork was lacking in anything pleasant to mention, the sauce was odd, not even sure what is was trying to be. It was like a burnt Asian gravy. Even the warm break was like toast. I felt bad complaining really as we were so hungry we ate it all, but can’t give higher than an overall 3, I think I’m being generous really. On a plus note, the wine was enjoyable and the manager was reasonably sympathetic, albeit disagreeing that sea bass should have a crispy skin. Who wants steamed style seabass when advertised as pan fried?

Had a amazing meal here. Service was relaxed, but at the same time totally on point! Nice to get real customer service. However it was the food that makes this place stand out. Well presented and very tasty. We will be going back very soon. If you are visiting for the first time, car parking is free but you do need to give your number plate when you enter. Don’t spend the time buying a ticket via the app!

Lunch for 5 adults. Service was above average, friendly, prompt, attentive and food was presented in good time. 4 x roast dinners and one vegetarian (Butternut squash) roast dinner. Nothing left, the right size portions. 1 x bottle of white wine and soft drinks - £150 inc. a tip of 10%.

The Venu is lovely to and warm and obviously very authentic especially being an Old Mill dating back 100,s of years.
Tastefully modernised with a old feel.
Very warm welcome from staff and made to feel at home.
We had a great time and the staff were attentive, kind and happy to indulge our quirky party.
The Evening menu was lovely but surprising not vast in its starters or mains choices, however that should not always be the case.....more is not a plumb line to make a judgement on the food, menu etc.
The starters were well presented and we all had something different.
Which served our tastes buds..the mushroom stuffed with goats cheese was very tasty but was only just warm to eat ...and the mushroom was not huge compared to the £8.95 ......the mains was a selection of different cuts of pork served with a selection of vegetables and a roasted fondant potatoe....(see foto)
What I do need to say is the Pork selection was tender, well cooked and tasty and I could have done with two portions.
(That isn't to say the portions were meager) they were just right but I could have easily ate 2 as it was so good....?

However the one upright half of a carrot and 2 baby broccoli stems and a half of a potatoe less than the size of my credit card that wasn't roasted was very disappointing.
I knew the restaurant had a great reputation and the fine diner comes with cost and limited portions but I had to chuckle inside at the seasonal vegetables served with such succulent meats.
I would definitely come again but the straw that broke the camel's back with a restaurant with such a great menu pleasant and helpful staff....and great food apart from my own personal observations was you had to pay for parking for the privilege of eating there.
The prices you have to pay I do not feel (even if they incorporated parking into the cost of good, service etc) warranty the patron to pay to park the car and eat....just imagine if they did that at the Golden Arches!!!!?
