My husband and I had a wonderful 24 hours stay at the Bull. The hotel is gorgeous and very welcoming. The staff are all so friendly but a special mention to Tabitha and James who were so attentive and kept our drinks flowing throughout our stay and also to Callum the Wild’s chef, super talented. If you can get booked into Wild we cannot recommend enough. The food and atmosphere is very special - it’s a dining experience we will remember for a long time.

Went for lunch. Absolutely delicious beyond belief. I had the cod. Great service. superlative food. Very nice atmosphere. Fantastic. Would go again and again if could. Lovely decoration too. Great Grayson Perry work in the dining room of the Horn. Of course the place was full of tourists eating but the Bull can't help that. Lovely lovely place/

Amazing stay - staff were incredibly kind and the hotel was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and there were so many different options to choose from for food and activities. The location is amazing - right in the middle of Burford with the countryside right on your doorstep. The staff went out of their way to make it a very memorable weekend.

Our stay didn’t start well because we were shown to a different room to the one we booked and confirmed. In fact, I’d phoned that morning to confirm our room had both a coffee machine and a kettle, which gave them every opportunity to tell me that the room we booked was undergoing repairs?||Anyway we were placed in the room next door which was very similar so we were not inconvenienced really, just a bit miffed we were not told in advance. The hotel provides a card for a free drink in the bar (always welcome!) between 5-7pm and also has a self service ‘pantry’ where you can get milk, brownies, tea, coffee, sparkling and still water etc. Alongside this there is a comfy sitting room to enjoy your beverage, read, chill etc if you want to.||The hotel has 2 restaurants but we only used one (Horn) which was delicious. The other (Wild) uses an open fire for cooking and seats just 10 people. There are many excellent pubs and restaurants in Burford and nearby and we were very well fed at the Angel, which is about a 50 yard walk from the Bull.||We were able to get booked for dinner at The Farmers Dog (Jeremy Clarkson’s pub) which is an easy 5 minute drive and, if you ask nicely, the staff at the Bull will take you and collect you in the hotel’s Land Rover, assuming it is available.||We had an issue with lukewarm water in the room which was quickly fixed although the drain in the shower tray started to struggle which I think will need attention.||There are some very nice areas in the Bull for relaxing with a drink, reading, eating etc including an outdoor terrace with patio heaters - although we had a miraculous 4 days in late October which were dry and warm - bookended by downpours before and after and overnight but we were able to explore local towns and villages such as Stow, Bourton on the Water, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton etc.||To summarise, the hotel is cosy, comfy and friendly and the Pantry an excellent idea. I think that our stay was made so much better by the staff throughout who were very happy to accommodate us and explain, organise and chat whenever required.||You should go - but remember this is an old building that underwent a full renovation and remodelling that lasted 3 years and was completed a year ago. Therefore the ceilings are low, the lighting quite dim but the atmosphere and the staff are excellent.

Horn. How disappointing this was. Honestly, a poor show, with prices that are not merited by the service or the food. A litany of underwhelming product led to an early night, with the restaurant losing at least £150+ worth of dessert, coffee, and cheese courses ( yes it’s that kind of expensive - unjustified). I went for the oysters myself, expecting to pay because we are about as far from the sea as is possible, but they are usually sold as six or 12.. here, you get four.. well thanks, they were nice, but as Masterchef would say “ no cooking on show, but they are well presented”… they were lovely, but not worth four quid each.. my dining friends had scallops, which were equally well presented and tasty, or pigeon, which was very nice but miniscule - you get twice as much beetroot as pigeon. First problem, I ordered a Sancerre to accompany the oysters… it didn’t arrive for twenty minutes, so the oysters went unaccompanied… this is the bit where I notice the lady in the bar seems more interested in chatting to the tech bros standing in front of her, than serving the restaurant behind her… The wine service was GLACIAL , which was a shame because the waiting staff were professional and attentive and, to their credit, very knowledgeable about the wine list. The days menu was unlike the online menu, so I went for a competently cooked sirloin instead of the chicken I was looking forward to. The ribeye I actually wanted was off the menu. Bland peppercorn sauce was disappointing, but chips were well made and crunchy. Apparently the tomahawk pork was fabulous, but there was no clue on the menu as to the sauce it sat in (I checked on the way out). Cod was tiny, bland and mushy with ( again) an unidentifiable sauce. Second problem.. I ordered a recommended red wine to have with my steak… it never came… bar lady still chatting to the tech bros and moving at her accustomed pace… dead slow. By now, Horn has lost a repeat customer… for over £300 , I expect more, you should too. And I didn’t expect to have to challenge the bill when I got charged for drinks that never arrived. It’s a shame, because the waitresses are delightful and very busy, the building looks fabulous (although the draught from the corridor makes the tables nearest the door most unpleasant). Overall, my advice is don’t be fooled by the expectation driven by higher than usual prices, this place isn’t worth your time… and people wonder why hospitality is suffering… it’s because you rip off your customers and make them go home for dessert… what was meant to be a treat, was truly disappointing.

A great place to stay. I feel very spoiled with a super comfortable bed in a nicely renovated room. I love the cool details like an electric blind, cool mirrors, and wooden glass frame around shower screen.
If I was to be very picky, I would mention that there are no hooks or towel racks in the room (which I’m aware aren’t issues in other rooms). The bed side tables are also quite small. Despite my pickiness, this hotel has been one of the nicest places I’ve ever slept in, and to me the bed is the most important part, which gets a 10/10.

What a fabulous quirky hotel. No Tvs but I did have a box of harmonicas in my room! And just looking at the amazing artwork filled my spare time. Staff were excellent and very professional. Food lovely too. Great location but just need to park on road but no great hassle. Room had slight noise from music below
