We visited the Astronomer for a family lunch. We booked in advance, but the venue had a lot of space upon arrival.
We spent just shy of £80 for a family of 6, and everyone had fizzy drinks. The value is great. They also have special offers running that are adaptable to all family sizes, which I thought was great.
The food was your average Hungry Horse food, satisfying but nothing overly special.
My rating of 3 stars is predominantly the lack of decent gluten-free food. First of all, the menu does not highlight gluten free and they do not have a paper copy so I had to download the app, sign up, find the restaurant and then the menu to see what was gluten free. The pickings are small, and a lot of options which are naturally gluten free ate discounted because they put them in a fryer with gluten containing products. In a kitchen of this size, I would believe that they could spare one fryer for GF products to expand the menu.
The interior is cosy, I would recommend a more thorough clean as we spotted dirty tissues on the shelf behind us.
A nice little find in a convenient location that I would happily visit again.

Visited with my Son. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and he loved the play equipment and other children to play with. We only had a light bite and drinks but the meals other people ordered looked amazing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely come again.

First time we have been to the ASTRONOMER and we found the food to be very enjoyable and the staff friendly.
Our only concern was some of the chairs where very tight to sit in, but we managed to find a couple more of other tables.
We arrived 17:20pm for a (17:30) booking which we was seated quite quickly, we went up to the bar and ordered and our food was delivered to our table about 17:55pm we then had a delicious pudding and left the establishment around 19:00pm.
Just remember to in put your car registration on the machine at the bar to save you getting a ticket of £100.
We will be back again soon.

Popped in a few days ago for a meal with my wife. Lovely friendly service. I couldn't believe the quality of the food. Such a young chef with such great talent. Thank you so much Emily, we will be back in short order.

1st time coming here. Was pleasantly surprised. Food was very good and had large portions. Well worth the money. Kids ate everything on the plate. Which shows me they enjoyed their food also.

Really lovely choice of food and it was hot and tasted good.
Staff should be aware how much can be heard in the tables just outside of the kitchen which is my reason for a 3 for atmosphere

Been here loads of times and the meals aren't consistent, they are usually fairly decent. Saying that the lasagna is awful and the garlic bread, isn't really garlic bread, it was terrible and not even cooked properly. On my last visit we got the sharer starter and it was amazing so well cooked and just right for what we wanted.
