I attended a week long course to make a Tote/tool box earlier this year and it was a fantastic experience!
Alistair, the course tutor, was extremely talented and professional who taught an extremely high level of carpentry, working to some very fine tolerances with oak and chestnut.
Couldn't recommend Atlantic Makers highly enough, as the whole team were so welcoming and talented, not to mention patient.
The workshop is also in a stunning area in the Cornish countryside which only adds to the experience , 10/10!!!

Really enjoyed the three day course making an Atlantic stool. Alistair was a great teacher. We learnt lots of techniques such as steaming, use of cabinet scrapers, sharpening, inlaying wood to very fine tolerances, use of block and shoulder planes, spokeshaving and sharpening of tools. Alistair explained how he had modified the design with time always trying to simplify. He was always available to guide and give frequent tips to help achieve accurate work. The other members of the collective were very welcoming and it was fascinating seeing the high standard of their work (including the occasional surfboard)

I have recently spent a week doing a beginner's cabinet making course with the Atlantic Makers, it was exactly as I'd hoped it would be. There was so much to learn, but we were expertly guided through each process, assisted when necessary, and coaxed into our creativity.
The immersion in all day every day wood was bliss for me, with access to high quality equipment and machinery, with close explanation and  tuition without too much intervention, but support when needed ! Jonathan had a great balance in his tuition style.
It was also lovely to meet the other craftsmen and women who worked there and see their amazing work . The whole establishment is wonderfully spacious  , with lots of windows and natural light with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
I would thoroughly recommend it to any lover of wood.

I went on a 3 day woodworking course at Atlantic Makers and can thoroughly recommend them. Jonathan was an excellent tutor and there was a great atmosphere working amongst professional craftsmen. The focus was on hand tools skills and accuracy without any pressure to rush. It was a great opportunity being able to work with a range of hardwoods and build a simple set of shelves.

I went on the upholstery Course at Atlantic Makers.Neil has been an upholsterer for 40 years and there's not much he doesn't know about upholstery. Great couple of days and managed to upholster my favourite chair! I can recommend.
