"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few".
Sir Winston Churchill

Visiting the Battle of Britain Memorial was a deeply moving and impressive experience for me as a German. This historic place brings to life the memory of a time that was full of suffering and sacrifice for the British population. The view of the coast and the wide sea, coupled with the silence of the memorial, made me pause and reflect.

The atmosphere is full of respect and dignity, and you can feel the reverence for the brave men, The Few, who fought here for their country and freedom. The exhibition is carefully designed and shows in a striking way how brave and determined the pilots were in the face of a seemingly overwhelming enemy.

What particularly touched me was the reconciliation and peaceful spirit that lies over everything. It is not about reopening old wounds, but about commemorating and remembering a time that must never be forgotten. As a German, I was almost ashamed to stand there, and I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this commemoration. A place of reflection and hope for a shared, peaceful future. Highly recommended. And if you’re lucky enough you might see a Spitfire or Hurricane flying by.

Absolutely fantastic we had a guided tour with The very knowledgeable, informative and friendly Sam who showed us around the whole memorial including the scramble experience which was fantastic lots of videos and screens and information and insights into what it was like during that period of history. I've Always been interested in this and it's my first visit to the memorial building my first visit was not long after the site opened and before the building existed. I would definitely recommend the experience which also includes a delicious cream tea which is not to be missed. Thanks to all the lovely staff for a truly splendid few hours there.

My husband wanted to visited this memorial for ages and today we did and wasn't disappointed. The cockpit is a lovely building with things to look at, a gift shop and upstairs there is a cafe with a fantastic viewing point. You can clearly see the building has wings shaped like the spitfire. Outside there's boards to learn things about the Battle of Britain and memorials along with some replica planes and there's again lovely views. We would come here again even just to have lunch!

The 102 bus stops right outside. Worth a visit. Lovely views and well thought out memorial. Had a cuppa inside in the cafe which was clean and again great views. Free to enter but please think of leaving a donation however small. It all helps

Great to find a place to visit of huge historical significance that isn't run just for commercial profit. Staff all very friendly and helpful, areas you can visit for free, parking prices sensible, cafe and loos on site, ample parking, and great views (although not for me as it was tipping it down with rain).

Great. A little disappointed that the replica Spitfire wasn’t on show. Car park surface not ideal if you are on a motorbike. Cafeteria very clean, friendly staff and good selection of food on offer. I will definitely visit again.
