Unhelpful, rude staff. Just been to B&Q to buy soil which is difficult enough when you are a older, not only is it heavy the trolleys are impossible to steer. Got to self service asked a member of staff to help as couldn't use the scanner. She was rude and obviously thought I should know how to use the hand held scanner and wasn't happy that I asked for help. There were two other members of staff standing watching and even though they could see us struggling didn't offer to help they were too busy talking. If you don't want customers to be rude to your staff I suggest you train them not to be rude to customers and remind them they get paid to work at B&Q, customers don't.

Took my 86 year old mum into the store to buy an electric stove fire. I was worried about getting such a large heavy item to the car but had hoped that Tom at the till would call for help on his headset. He would not call for help until we had paid (presumably he thought my mum looked nimble enough to race off with an enormous heavy box) but also refused to call after we paid, telling me to go and wait in a corner with the trolley. It’s hard to describe how rude he was to both of us individually but it was interesting that having struggled to put the box into the car by myself, I returned to the shop to get his name and he was being a lot more pleasant to the male customer he was serving - perhaps he only picks on vulnerable old ladies. Either way, B&Q should reconsider allowing Tom to work in a customer-facing role. 2 stars because the Duty Manager Matt was great and apologised to me for the upsetting experience.

I needed some compost today but am unable to lift or carry it. I asked for help and Carlos very kindly went outside to get the code for the gentleman at the till and then loaded it into my car for me. So very kind.

went today the man on checkout today at collection as this is was only checkout open other then the self checkouts in which are just cards he helped in telling wrong paint said to get another one these where large and heavy also had to remove 3 before getting to the brilliant one , I did say could you help they are heavy he seemed not to of heard me , thought may of helped but no , luckily I saw a young man who works at the store I asked and did with no problem went back to checkout and obviously the paint pots are to heavy so he brings his scanner over

I’m pretty sure that the requirement of employment in this store is to be as rude, unfriendly and unhelpful as possible. I’ve come back a few times thinking I may just have encountered someone on an off day but each time, whichever member of staff I’ve encountered - the experience has been the same. This store is handy but I’d rather spend more or buy off Amazon than give them any more of my money.
Maybe the managers could start with having staff crack a smile or acknowledge their customers in anyway, as I assume actual customer service skills is too much of a stretch.

Great selection of items, staff could of been more helpful, found items marked down in price, but was not the case when we got to the till..

They sold me a broken item and when I brought it back they said they wouldn't accept it and wouldn't let me return it. The staff gathered around to oppress me. Don't give me a clear explanation. they kicked me out when I wanted to talk clearly. This is called fraud and irresponsibility.

Today (01/05/24) I arrived close to closing time to grab a bag of sharp sand. Approaching the door to the garden centre area, we saw a man locking the door. As there was still 5 minutes till the store was closed I asked if I could quickly grab the bag of sand. He literally said “no, I want to go home”. Obviously terrible customer service and just plain rude! Annoying when I don’t live close to the shop. Safe to say I will be taking my custom elsewhere.
