Dorstone Castle, another victim of Owain Glyndwr’s army just on the outskirts of Hay-on-Wye. A 12th century Motte and Bailey earthworks that was later erected in stone. The earthworks is all that remain.

The motte is mainly covered in a large copse of trees. You can park outside the village hall and a footpath runs alongside to the back fields. At the rear of the village hall are public toilets.

Not really anything to see, but it’s nice to glimpse some true heritage on the area.

Large earthwork mound remaining from a motte and bailey castle, actually well worth a visit if you're passing. We climbed to the top and sat on a log to enjoy the view, we'd definitely go back with a picnic. Dorstone is a lovely little village too, with a nice pub, village shop and clean public loos by the village hall. We visited after dropping by Arthur's Stone, five minutes away.
