Fabrications is a great place to learn a variety of crafts. I can't recommend it highly enough. Barley is an attentive teacher and she really responds to me as an individual. Barley's support has helped me to develop especially in sewing. I have also started to gain new skills such as embroidery and knitting as well as learning how to mend clothes. Since attending classes and the craft club I've learnt so much and I feel part of a welcoming craft community with lots of fun events such as the summer pic-knit and Christmas party. The shop has lots of lovely crafty supplies for all my projects as well. I include photos of a dress, some shorts and a jacket I made with Barley's guidance.

I took two 1-day courses here (beginners 1 and alterations) conservatively over a weekend, having never really sewed before. Barley was a fantastic teacher who explained everything simply for someone who knows nothing!

Really hands on with lots of problem solving. Small groups so lots of 1-1 questions. Really great advice on sewing machines (as I didn’t own one) and I ended up buying a Brother machine from the shop. A really great experience all round.

I first attended a Fabrications beginner sewing class in 2018 and it was brilliant! From there I was welcomed into the bi weekly craft club and Ive never looked back! The crafting community Fabrications, and the owner Barley, has created is warm, friendly, encouraging and welcoming. With loads of classes ranging a multitude of skills, Fabrications is ideal for starting or continuing your crafting skills!

I just completed Barley 3 week course, it was amazing.
Barley has the patience of a saint ?, and she has given me confidence to continue to sew. I have gone from never using a sewing machine to owning sewing machine (which I bought from Barley), own an overlocker and got all the items. I have made several Tilly & the Buttons dresses. Obsessed with sewing is an understatement.

Fabrications upcycles fibre scraps and rags into kits-- which make great gifts for crafty people-- and items like clothing, accessories, and pillow cases. There is also a fine selection of yarns and notions.

Funny thing about the negative reviews, they really reflect how easily people with mildly different worldviews can easily miscommunicate. I will choose to give the benefit of the doubt and try to be a light in the midst of the world's upheaval.

I bought a picnic blanket and a ball of yarn supporting breast cancer research.

I would love to be able to go and buy wool in this really well stocked local shop. Sadly it's impossible because of the incredibly rude member of staff . At best he is hostile ... at worst he is abusive . I see from the reviews that others have had similar experiences . Perhaps some staff training would be appropriate ?

I love going to Fabrications Craft Club and the classes run by Barley. I’m sorry I didn’t do it earlier but I wanted to mention the Overlocker Class I attended in September. Excellent class and teacher and I learnt sew much. Thanks Barley

10/10 would recommend the beginner sewing courses with Barley at Fabrications. I took courses 1 & 2 with no prior sewing experience and learned so much across both courses. I not only feel more knowledgeable but confident and inspired to take on my new craft. Barley was a fabulous, patient, and kind teacher. I can’t wait to try more of their advanced classes!
