I went to York expressly just to test the Alesis Strata Prime drumkit. Overall the store has a wide range of instruments on display and more available equipment in the warehouse. I would also like to highlight their great customer service. Josh was very helpful with regards to drums advice and so were the other clerks who assisted me.

Went to the York warehouse today to pick up a pre ordered guitar. The staff there were brilliant. I asked to test the guitar before taking it away and nothing was too much trouble. The guitar was carefully unpacked, tuned and handed over for a test play. Once tested it was repacked. All this was done really cheerfully by people who look to be enjoying their job. I was with my son (for whom the guitar is a Christmas present) and the whole experience was just brilliant. Thanks for the patience and helpfulness of everybody there ?

Very disappointing experience this Tuesday.

Bought a £500 guitar for my daughter’s birthday. The store closes at 5:30pm and we left at 5:34pm. Some of the staff seemed so angry that they had to work a few minutes late that they refused to respond to a simple goodbye and became very rude. absolutely shocked at this behaviour.

What does that teach my child?

I’ve probably spent about £2000 altogether this year and I consider myself a pretty good customer.

I expect to be treated with respect and just general politeness.

The prices at gear4music are no longer the best!

They always used to price match for me and often give some discount, but this has all gone.

I tend to find now that after I have visited, I can find what I need considerably cheaper from some of the other big online retailers which is a real shame because the store and showroom are close to where I live.

It generally seems like somebody has taken their finger off the pulse and things have gone downhill from a customer service point of view, which again is a real shame.

Maybe they will redeem themselves at some point, who knows.

Sent an amplifier into Gear4music for part exchange. Pristine when it left me but rejected because it had a broken corner piece. Now having to pay twice as much for its return as well as the original courier fee. Website says 3-5 working days but date given is two weeks away. Also returned effects unit for return in person and got charged a courier fee!!! What is going on? Used to be great. Gone down hill badly.

I have been shopping here for years. Overtime, I have seen the gradual decline of staff knowledge and significant price increases. This is my local music store and I like to visit in person. Unfortunately they're not open Sunday and this limits my opportunity. All things considered, I'm suggesting that anybody can save an absolute fortune ordering online. I can usually tolerate slightly inflated costs, but this is going too far now. The items in my photographs are exactly the same. I foresee a closure in the near future.

Absolutely fantastic, my order got lost at the delivery depot, a couple of emails and 1 phone call later and 1 week later from my original order I now have my order. It was indeed lost and they re sent out the order for next day delivery and it has just arrived. Thankyou so much for your fast and efficient service, cannot recommend you enough ☺️

Customer service completely misinformed me about a product, despite me being super clear what I was after. Complete hassle and waste of time. You’d expect CS for a music company to be well informed- and if not to say they are unsure or ask someone else. Thankfully their refund system is good, despite it taking a while to get through to someone on the phone today to explain the situation.

Went here yesterday to buy a guitar and other bits and pieces, guitar not on display so approached a sales guy who said it was in stock and to have a wander around the store as it would take ten minutes to get from stock. Waited half an hour to never see him again. 2 guys in guitar room playing away with each other showed no interest in the customers, left and spent my money elsewhere. Shocking customer service. Won’t be back.
