My son completed and passed his level 2 & 3 in light vehicle maintenance and repairs motorsport at an IMI approved college and he has been struggling to get a job since June 24. The college failed him miserably. He’s now too over qualified for an apprenticeship and not enough experience for a mechanical technician role. Rang IMI for advice and all they could advise was to register with Auto tech academy which he has been registered with since June 24 they have been useless. He has dropped his cv in at multiple garages and applied for lots of main dealer apprenticeships but the poor lad just gets the same reply over qualified and not enough experience. Trainee jobs are very few and far between. Knowing what we know now we would have applied for an apprenticeship to complete the Level 3. The college is another issue and should have helped its students more to gain experience.

I have known about the IMI for more years than I care to mention but in all this time they have been at the forefront of the motor industry. They offer a wide range of products that will meet all the industry needs from companies to individuals.

the imi need to understand that people need some help with there apprenticeship cores. they never gave a hint about what i was failing on throughout the apprenticeship. when i was told i had one attempt left, they told me i would need to restart the whole apprenticeship agine costing over £1000! complete scan!!!!! should be ashamed.
