I was referred to John Skinner Ltd. by a friend who is in the restoration business who insisted they were the hands down best choice. He had even visited their shop in the UK and was thoroughly impressed.
So I contacted them and two other well known companies to start vetting them. Long story short, Skinner had the best color matches to my tired factory interior and seemed extremely knowledgeable about my Series 1.5 2+2, plus were pleasant to communicate with. And the price was competitive. For me, they won hands down.
But it got better when I received the kit and started going through it. The first thing that was obvious was the quality and accuracy of the materials. As I worked through and started the installation, it also became apparent how complete the kit was, and how precisely cut everything was. Along the way, I had to reach out with some questions, and they were politely and accurately addressed.
In fact, given that my car was the 6th Series 1.5 2+2 LHD off the line, it wasn't much of a surprise to find an anomaly from the factory in the cutouts in my door cards. Jonathon requested detailed measurements and photos so that this could be documented, and he proceeded to incorporate that into their knowledge base, while at the same time started fabricating replacement cards to fit my oddity.
The only slightly negative I can say is given he fact that they're in high demand and thus quite busy, I did experience delays in responses from time to time. However with my project schedule, it didn't really have much of an impact, and it was well worth it given the outcome I achieved.
So 5 stars from me, and well deserved by Jonathon and his staff!!
NOTE: I've included a few photos of my interior, but I should emphasize that I did this installation, not them, and so you judge the company based on the appearance of the materials, but not on my installation job.
