Had to visit this 'must do' station as it has supposedly restricted access, having alighted at Exton a short walk along the cycle path to this gated single platform station. Although signs are still in situ stating that 'persons alighting here must have business with the camp'
A basic waiting room with a huge bench, a help point and timetable information complete this oddity. The gate may appear closed so you have to open it to access or exit the station right onto the cycle path.
Remember the station is a 'request stop' so don't forget to make your intent clear!
Wave at the driver to board or tell the guard that you want to alight there.

A great rail station to visit if you are into railways! One of the most unique ones in the UK. As another reviewer has said, the public can access the station now, you do not need to be on business at the base anymore to get on/off here. There is a public footpath that goes between the boundary of the commando base and the railway line. The footpath to the station is accessible from Exton Station from the north and Lympstone Village Station from the south.

The distance between this station and Exton Station must be one of the shortest in the UK which makes for a unique journey if you want to do that.

For the commandos themselves there is a guarded gate at the bottom of the base which provides access to the public footpath and therefore the station.

A somewhat unique rail station that adjoins the Exe Estuary Trail path and gives access to the Marine military base across the path. The station is gated, but contrary to popular belief you may use it to entrain or alight from the Evocet Line trains. Note, this is a request stop halt for the train. A must-do for any serious station gricer.
