A superb memorial set within a small park in the centre of Macclesfield dedicated to the fallen in two world wars.
This memorial is unique, it is the only one in the country that depicts a fallen soldier. There is also a memorial in front of the cenotaph of a post placed exactly the distance between a firing squad and the soldier that would have been executed. Sadly 6 from the Cheshire Regiment were shot at dawn. All have now been pardoned.
There is parking around the cenotaph but please be aware it is now situated next two a very busy cross road.

Although the monument has been renovated a few years ago the rest of the garden area needs some attention, my 7 year old son wanted to stop by on our way back home, don't be put off by this it is a minor thing and generally the whole Cenotaph area and monument is very well cared for, and it is perhaps one of the if not the best example with the bronze figures and position

Nice little green space in Macclesfield, good for a bit of sunshine in the summer. Some dubious characters at times, but no more so than any other place.
