Great location for a few days away from the hustle & bustle of London. Parking was great and included in the stay…just don’t forget to register your car. Reception was efficient and friendly. Room was lovely, I. The ‘new’ building and overlooking the weir. We had a balance where you could sit and watch the wildlife. Breakfast included good choices, but and additional £6 for smoke salmon was a bit steep. Didn’t eat in the restaurant for dinner…Marlow has some great eating places, so we eat out. The bar was the only area that could so with some TLC…seemed that here was only one person on the bar and waiting on the tables…indoors and outside. It took awhile to get served…and some of the prices were a little steep. In summary, great location, nice hotel and we would recommend and go back.

We stayed for two nights in a Super Deluxe Room. This was located away from the main building and accessed from the car park.||The room was large and bed and pillows most comfortable. The large settee was appreciated as it seemed new and it too was comfortable.||We enjoyed the scenic outlook of the weir in fact the hotel is in a good location for proximity to the Thames Path and the shops.||Breakfasts were good as was the lunch we had. Can recommend La Cantina Italian restaurant in Marlow.||Thanks to the staff who were professional yet friendly.||Overall a good stay in delightful surroundings.

Had a nice break at the Compleat Angler. Superb location right on the weather. Whilst the rooms are approaching the requirement for a refurb, they are comfortable and offer great value. Service was superb throughout the weekend. Being able to enjoy a drink right on the river was a good way to enjoy the sunny weather.

Great location and comfy bed. Super expensive drinks in the bar! £25 for a medium wine and pint of locally brewed lager.
Some areas need modernising, especially the lounge area as it felt like an old people’s home.
Room was not ready at 3pm and has to wait 45 minutes for it to be cleaned.
Staff are very polite but feel like the receptionists could do with a bit more customer service training. No offer of any local information and no mention of breakfast times.

My wife and I have stayed at the Compleat Angler on a number of occasions and thought that our latest visit was the best we had experienced. Now got staff who are fairly professional and know how to make the customer feel valued clients. Breakfasts are excellent with a comprehensive menu, including Marmite!|Food quality at dinner was very good. |We had a room in the new part of the hotel and was most comfortable.

We arrived slightly early but was told we could leave our car which was good, so we headed off for a couple of hours to explore the area. We went back for check in at 3. Our room wasn’t ready. We didn’t get into our room until after 4. ||We decided to have a drink from the bar while we waited for our room: the prices are very high! I was quite shocked. ||We had a free upgrade of our room, I must say, I wouldn’t like to think of what the room was before the upgrade as the room we had wasn’t anything special. It was a decent size. But very dated. ||We didn’t sleep very well. The room was so hot. We turned the heating off but it stayed on. We had windows open. The light in the wardrobe also doesn’t turn off so you have that on all night. |We were right above reception also so we heard every slam of the front door, which was quite a lot!! We were woken early with the smell of cigarettes from other guests under our window, which wasn’t pleasant. Also, very strange but the sink didn’t have cold running water, we had to brush our teeth with luke warm water! ||The staff are friendly. And the breakfast is second to none. That was the best thing about our stay. And the beautiful setting. There’s a choice of cooked breakfast and continental and very nice coffee. The setting is lovely: right on the river. I’m sure a table in the sun would be lovely in the summer on the river bank. ||Considering the area, it was decent for what we paid. But probably would request a room at the back of the building if we ever stayed again.

The two outstanding features of the hotel are the wonderful helpful staff and the superb riverside location. The stroll across the bridge to the delightful shops and cafes of the high street of Marlow is also a big plus. We dined in the Riverside restaurant and the meal and service (and the view) were first class. Breakfast was as good as it gets and again with superb service.
A slight criticism would be that the rooms were very warm even with the central heating turned off and the windows were for safety reasons limited in their opening. The property is old with many staircases and some parts look tired however for value for money and given the strong pluses I would highly recommend.

Sunday overnight stay. Lovely 4 poster room overlooking the weir. Hot shower. Drinks in the cosy bar before lovely Sunday roast. Delicious and beautifully presented. Really comfortable bed. Tasty breakfast. Nothing too much trouble for staff. Highly recommend.
