I absolutely loved the experience of the candle making workshop. Josh and Caroline held the session beautifully, they were very knowledgeable on everything candle making, they answered everyone’s questions and I felt I learned a great deal in a short space of time. The workshop itself was gorgeous, and easy to find, and had everything we needed to begin the session. We were even offered hot drinks and homemade Victoria sponge - which was incredible! The candles themselves are beautiful, smell divine and burn really well. And though the process of making them appears simple, the science (that Josh is a master in articulating) behind the whys is the really interesting part. I purchased a home making kit at the end of the session and taught everything I had learned to my son the next day. He absolutely loved it! Thank you guys, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both.

What a fantastic way to pass the afternoon! In the company of friends and new acquaintances, guided by Carolyn and Josh we made our own wonderful candle.
Josh gave us the science behind the art of making the perfect candle - very interesting.

Carolyn, as well as melting the wax to a perfect temperature, supplied lovely refreshments - homemade cake, nibbles and various liquid refreshments.

Their workshop is filled with beautiful curved candles - an exquisite gift to give along with arrangements of dried flowers. If you need inspiration for Christmas or any celebration - pop in and see them!

I recently did a workshop at Maiden and really enjoyed it. As soon as you enter the room you get the beautiful smell, not overpowering but gentle, of the various fragrances and you instantly feel relaxed. As well as candles Maiden also do beautiful wreaths of dried flowers which make the whole room a lovely place for the workshop. The workshop was for eight people so a small number which means you get the full attention of Josh and Carolyn. This workshop is perfect even if you are not very artistic as you can still go home with a beautifully scented candle you have made. Josh also gave a very interesting lecture on the whole process of making candles. Everyone thought the two hours passed very quickly. Not forgetting the additional bonus of a good cup of coffee (or tea) and a very big slice of homemade cake. I am very happy to recommend Maiden. Anne-Marie

I went, with friends to a candle making sessions and it was such a great afternoon. Mother and son, Carolyn and Josh are so knowledgeable. We learnt about the technicalities of candle making. Then we made our own having chosen our perfume. Added to that, we were offered fresh coffee, home-made cake and nibbles. I would highly recommend this experience. I am a fan of their curved candles. The candle making workshop was a great way to spend a bit of 'me time' on a spare afternoon. I learnt a huge amount from the very hospitable hosts. And came away with a beautiful scented candle that has bought me another little piece of joy each time I light it.
I'd highly recommend this workshop as well as the stunning candles and wreaths they make themselves. Gorgeous 😍. I look forward to popping in to make a few more as gifts and maybe the odd self-gift while I'm there 😁

I just have to tell you how incredible my candles are that I've purchased. I've just sent the cinnamon and vanilla hamper to my mother for Mother's Day and she received it within 48 hours. Furthermore, she couldn't stop telling me how lovely it smelled even in the box! I first found out about Maiden Dorset candles at the Winchester Christmas market and bought her the orange and clove curved candle--she couldn't get enough! We came across Maiden Dorset at the Bath Christmas Market last December. We purchased a Curved Candle on the day because we were so impressed with its originality. Since then we have purchased 2 more curved candle as gifts that have been well received, and have also purchased 4 Glass Candles with the ceramic rings, 2 for ourselves and 2 for gifts.
