Called in today as I was enjoying several walks, starting at Bollihope, working on to Gibson's Cave, and then High Force. What walk is complete without a decent snack and McFarlane's hit the spot! Got myself a scotch egg and a sausage roll and I must say the taste and quality of both was absolutely spot on.
A nice warm welcome too and a great selection of other foods, and decent cuts of meat. Will definitely pay another visit when I'm back out walking there again.

We had enjoyed the pork and leek sausages, bacon and black pudding in Brunswick house breakfast and then the brisket and sirloin in the bourguignon and stroganoff in the forresters so when we were leaving Middleton in Teesdale we knew we had to go in and"fill our boots"as the butcher said. Lamb chops and steaks have been excellent so far and we have a few meals in the freezer. In fact this butchers was one reason that we stayed an extra night in the area.

Called in as was passing while touring, Alastair was very helpful and very well priced, neighbour was there and we chatted for a good time amongst the 3 of us, had some black fillet steak and by far the best ive eaten, will of course go back. Anyone passing or living in the area you would not be dissapointed, Lloyd

Alistair is a real character and known to everyone in the village. A friendly, helpful, chatty butcher who sells excellent quality meat at very reasonable prices, he is more than happy to cut meat to your specific requirements or to make something special for you.

He is known to be a bit of a joker so we would advise caution if he offers you anything which isn't a product sample! Trick Gummi bears, for example.

Although we have only lived here for a few months, Alistair is definitely our "go to" butcher for the quality of the meat, his prices and the banter. He has very quickly made us feel at home in a strange place.

Oh I wish you were in Cricklewood. We could really use a proper good butcher here. Looking forward to making a warming stew with the lamb we bought. Husband was very pleased to be able to get pease pudding and your own black pudding before heading back south.
