Having purchased a 3 piece 6x4 inch oak fire surround, after less than a year one piece has developed 2 cracks one is 21inches long and one crack is18inches long and both are over1/4inch wide down the face of timber leaving surround looking like someone has tried to split it with an axe. spoke to oakkraft and was told this can happen with oak and even if I bought a replacement piece the same could happen again, so to let anyone else thinking of purchasing similar item save your self a lot of money and like me maybe save time of having to re do your fire surround(not using oak). Anyway must go, off to tip.
