I occasionally have to stay in Lyndhurst, for work purposes, and had previously stayed in a couple of other hotels/B&Bs. I stumbled across the Penny Farthing by chance and I am so grateful I did. What a wonderful, quaint establishment. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by the receptionist who advised that I was able to check in slightly early. A huge relief as I was laden with heavy bags and had to be at work for 1pm. I was provided clear instructions in order to gain access later on and given the key to my room. My room, I was told, was named Unicycle. All rooms (I came to realise) are very sweetly and thoughtfully named after different forms of bicycle. Unicycle room, I guess, is this named due to being a single bed occupancy- perfect for me and my requirements. I noticed other room named Boneshaker and Mountain! |The property is so clean and well maintained. The rooms are well thought out with all amenities considered. Absolutely superb value for the price point, particularly in comparison with other properties in the town. On a cold March day, the warmth of the property- both literally and metaphorically- was so much appreciated. And breakfast included! All in all, a fantastic place. Someone has put a great deal of thought and effort into their business and am so happy I found it. I will not stay anywhere else in Lyndhurst in the future.

We arrived at penny farthing and were greeted with a smile and when we entered our room we were absolutely amazed with how beautiful and well presented it was also spotlessly clean all over. Great facilities and lovely comfy linen. We stayed in the kangaroo room. Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous the continental and the full breakfast were delicious. Great staff and great service. Only a shirt walk away from amazing friendly restaurants and pubs will definitely be returning.

The hotel has a nice location, friendly staff , nice lounge, free car parking.
The room was nice and clean. The stairs to access the room were a bit of a challenge. Wireless was difficult to access or connect. Great breakfast.

What a wonderful little hotel and exceptional value. Easy and free parking warm welcome and excellent breakfast, all cooked fresh and local produce. We visit lyndhurst every year and would absolutely stay here again. We had room 5 which was lovely and spacious. We were at the back so no noise and lovely and warm. Highly recommend 👌

The location is spot on for a great weekend in the New forest
Easy to find and parking is abundant for paying guests. To say it is dog friendly and there was lots of dogs it was immaculate room was lovely.
Only issue I could find with the hotel was the size of the cooked breakfast
Full English consisted of 1 sausage 1 bacon 1 hash brown 1/2 a salad tomato a couple of mushrooms if your lucky and
not even a full spoonful of beans and 1 egg of your choice If breakfast was bigger penny farthing would have full marks

Nothing fancy but then again nothing much to complain about. Check in easy & helpful. Room clean & tidy. Beds quite comfy, although mine was squeaky.|Breakfast better than average with the service excellent. Price about right for a mid January stay. So all in all a reasonable night away.

Lovely staff. The room was slightly dated and had a few problems getting the shower to stay one temperature, but the bed was comfortable, and for the price was overall a pleasant stay. Breakfast was good, this was a cooked breakfast but there were also a selection of cereals set out if wanted

This is a gem of a hotel. The location is excellent and the double room we stayed in was perfect for our three night stay. Breakfast was excellent too with locally sourced ingredients. The staff were all lovely and made us feel very welcome . We are really looking forward to returning in the New Year. Thank you to all the staff; your excellent reviews are richly deserved!
