Great vets really accommodating especially in an emergency
Always patient and kind with my Dogs and cat - Ian was fantastic at giving options for my older dogs surgery and making a really appropriate and excellent orthopaedic referral to a specialist in Exeter and then picking up post operative care - the lady vet who also treats my pets at Bishops Lydeard is very kind and thorough
I feel this practice is about what’s best for the animals would be happy to recommend this practice it feels safe and considerate

The most unprofessional vets I have ever set foot in. My mum had her eldest beloved Newfoundland registered here since he was a pup, but had never needed to use the vet for him, until it was time for him to be put to sleep at 11years old. (Her other dogs are registered elsewhere.)

We walked in and waited, staff said hello but that was as good as the interaction got. Not friendly, warm or welcoming.

We walked in to the room, vet asked what the problem was, my mum explained and said about how Bronson was dying and about his smell. The vets reply was “Yes, it’s pretty grim!” Then he asked how my mum would like Bronson’s ashes returned, she explained, he said nothing.

Then he began to shave Bronson’s leg, which frightened Bronson, this made the vet grip tighter and keep pulling Bronson’s leg with fair force whilst Bronson was trying to pull away. Vet had no patience at all, my mum had to say “Let him go Ian” (I think that’s his name)

We calmed Bronson down and sat with him on the floor, the vet said he was going to give him a sedative to cam him down. Sedative was given and then the vet and his assistant left the room. The vet said nothing when he left, the assistant said they would be back in 5minutes.

Bronson was clearly given too much, as he had a full fit. He was shaking violently, mouth locked open and foaming from his mouth. We shouted for help to which they came back- No rush might I add.

Bronson was laid there, with his whole mouth locked open- A traumatising site. The vet then tried to put him to sleep. The vet was incapable of doing this. After more than SEVERAL failed attempts, my mum asked if his vains had collapsed. The vet said possibly. Not fussed atall.

Bronson was not put to sleep peacefully, he was overdosed on a sedative, left to fit, and have an extremely drawn out death. Not the peaceful “going to sleep” that everyone wants for their animals when it’s their time.

There was no sorry. No sorry for your loss. No sorry for the absolutely traumatic experience. No sorry for the wrong doing. Not even a goodbye. NOTHING!

The assistant called days later asking how my mum how she wanted Bronson’s ashes as they hadn’t listened when my mum previously told them on arrival. She apologised for the state of the experience and said nothing else as she was very sheepish about clearly going against her boss, though her sorry indicated she knew there was wrong doing.

If I could give zero stars I would.

Quite possibly the worst human I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. No compassion, not a single caring bone in his body.

I’ll be taking it further.

Visiting family here and our welshie had an on going problem with her ear. We booked in and were seen by a very nice gentleman who answered all of our questions and sent us away with medicine that started to have an immediate effect and cleared her up in no time. Very reasonable cost but more importantly faultless service and took time to answer all of our questions. We would highly recommend them and may well book in again when we are up as the other ear is problematic now
