RM Cylinders - Pontefract

Our RM cylinder was installed in early January 2022. It has failed. There are two small holes in the cylinder, which my plumber tells me was caused by a manufacturing defect. There’s a u shaped depression on the cylinder - see pic. The defect was covered over by the outer layer of foam, which has failed, resulting in hot water shooting out of the back of the cylinder. I have raised this with Joule and they have washed their hands of it. Incredibly disappointing. We all make mistakes, it’s how you resolve them that sets you apart. I would absolutely avoid this company.

I had a Stelflow unvented cylinder system fitted in May 2023 by reputable installer. Since installation it has made an unbearable noise like a helicopter landing in my loft when the shower or taps are opened. Called in March 2024 to pass on advice to the installer on equalising the system but this hasn’t worked. Perhaps someone from your technical team can come to & rectify the problem as the noise is unbearable and the system not fit for purpose.

Further to my recent complaint regarding a four year old Joule cylinder which I had professionally installed in 2020.

It is the opinion of a certified plumber that the water leak is inside the cylinder and that the problem is within the sealed unit. This can only be the result of a manufacturing or assembly fault. We have the tank available for you to inspect.

You say I should have had had the cylinder “serviced” and that my warranty is void. It is not possible to “service” the cylinder. Even so, I still have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (CRA 2015).

I attach a copy of the invoice from my builder for the replacement of your faulty cylinder and I request you reimburse me within 7 days.

Bought my first house and needed a new cylinder fitted. I contacted RM who went out of their way to help me get up and running in my new home with quick, friendly and reliable services. Couldn't have asked for a better service and would highly recommend them for any job.

Hi all had RM gear fitted to my home 3 months ago. Had small problem with it making noise. Called the service team and they were most helpful! A service engineer stoped by went through the system i had. Basic problem the plumber had install it wronge. Non Return valves in the wronge places. They then put me in touch with someone who could sort the problem. All sorted now running well. Please be careful who you get to do this type of work. As there is a bit more to it than just plumbing

I had one of these cylinders fitted in December by a local plumber who has now gone out of business.
After 15 months the cylinder split. I phoned the company up twice and spoke to a Mr Eddy Keating tech support manager. I explained that I did not buy the cylinder my self and did not know were it was purchased. Because I did not know were it was bought there is no way I can get my money back or a replacement. VERY POOR SERVICE.

We recently renovated our apartment, and one thing I wanted was powerful hot showers. We got a local plumber and he recommended RM Solar to supply the hot water tank. To say I am impressed is an understatement. We have not yet ran out of hot water, and the power from our shower is incredible, the difference from our old combi boiler is night and day. I will say that they take up abit of space, but we were lucky as we had an ideal location under the stairs. The tank also looks very good, and quality is top notch. A+

I had RM unvented cylinder 2 years ago, it has started leaking recently, BG has seen it and the diagnosis was made of faulty cylinder. I found it difficult to believe, until I saw the leak from the cylinder, likely caused by dent in the side of the 1mm or so thickness stainless steel, become weaker by time and start leaking.
The costumer service has sent some apologies and several requests to study the case, and asked to have the cylinder back to check it out.
Obviously, I will not wait for them weeks and weeks to get this sorted, if any, but I will buy a high quality cylinder from reputable services, like Sadia Megaflow, Worcester or Gledhill.

Extremely unhappy and absolutely not recommended.
