Customers praise the Salopian Star for its friendly welcome, log burner, and excellent beer selection. The pub's cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating area are also highlighted as positives. However, some reviewers mention that it's a local's pub and may not be welcoming to newcomers. Overall, the Salopian Star is a popular spot for those seeking a relaxed and social atmosphere.

Some reviewers also appreciate the pub's ability to accommodate dogs and its convenient location near the canal.

Despite the mixed reviews, the Salopian Star's commitment to quality beer and its welcoming staff are widely praised. Whether you're a local or just visiting the area, this pub is definitely worth a visit.

Passing visitor from the canal. Our canal guide book described the pub as a little gem, and what a gem it is. Great crowd of locals, lovely local beer and a few tunes thrown into the mix. If you’re in the area worth stopping by! Dog friendly!!

Came in here at last and Harvey the landlord immediately welcomed me and made me feel at home. Real proper pub, lovely atmosphere and the locals were great too.
Proper cask ale on tap and had to have a couple of pints as you do...a pint here is such good value as are the rest of the drinks. It certainly stands out in price value compared to the other drinking establishments in Market Drayton.
Definitely recommend this pub as it's a real gem and Harvey makes it even greater, what a character and landlord...well done you "sir"...!! Thanks for such a great welcome and experience πŸ‘

A welcoming atmosphere and some really well kept real ales are waiting for visitors here. The music was worth noting for reflecting great taste and being played at a sensible level to enjoy without drowning conversation. Will be going back.

So I've been back twice now and last night had a pint of the NPA and APA from the nearby Newport Brewery. Both were excellent, but the NPA is the show stealer here. There was a Black IPA on sale when we arrived, but this was taken off before I had a chance to try it. The Boss, Harvey, explained that the beer had been tapped for some time and he was worried that it was close to expiry, but he would let me have a drop to try. I returned from a visit outside for a small cigar to find an almost full pint of black beer at the table where our wives were sat. It was in good condition and was a credit to the landlord that he'd taken it off to avoid any potential dissatisfaction, but I enjoyed it very much. Later in the evening Harvey joined us at our table as the customer numbers had dropped, so we had a good chinwag about this area which is still new to us but was home to him.
In all, it was another lovely visit to a 'proper' pub. By that I mean it's not a restaurant, it's a drinkers' pub where the people are varied and eclectic, the noise is loud but good humoured and customers are treated with value.
Should you find yourself in MD with a bit of a thirst, I'd recommend it above all of the others.
