My dog had to be pts. I was told that I couldn't cancel my monthly direct debit if I wanted to make a claim. So basically I am continuing to pay for my dead dog. I then was told that after any claim that is authorised they deduct the remaining balance of your yearly premium from your claim. So for me, excess and yearly premium comes to £600 so I am out of pocket for that to start with. Absolutely disgusting as a loyal customer. What a con insurance is!!

I had my doubts as I hadn't checked reviews etc when I changed insurance to these. Bare in mind only ever claimed once when my dog was a pup & now age 11 nearly I thought it will be fine. Anyway, 6mnth after taking this insurance she was really sick & needed emergency op, but I had absolutely no problems at all it was quick & easy to complete online & they paid within 2weeks! I would definitely recommend 👌 👍

If your Pet passes away hopefully it's at the end of the policy Year! Had the Policy for our Dog all his life with Scratch & Patch. The Policy renewed at end of Sept. Sadly our Dog passed away end of Nov. On making the claim for his vet care in his last days & his euthanasia and cremation. I was told by Scratch & Patch if I. Claimed in the new policy year i would then have to continue to pay for the policy until the 12 months was up! Even though our Dog would have been dead for 10 Months of it ! Disgusting! DO NOT USE!

Do not use this insurance company they are are very frustrating to deal with and will try their absolute best not to pay out a claim.
They don’t investigate your claim properly at and the email responses I receive may aswell come from a robot.
I am really disappointed with the service and the company who is operated by WR Davies.
They do not even deserve 1 star.

The worst dog insurance I think I have ever been with, the online portal seems to never ever work, even when you call there is nothing in which they can do.I wrote a email of complaint and never heard back, regarding other things. I wouldn’t even bother

I strongly advise being very careful and reading everything in the policy before you agree to taking out any insurance with Scratch and Patch. My 13.5 yr old dog accident injested something and needed medical treatment. I was only compensated for 1/5th of my £650 vet bill. A few weeks later we had to let her pass away (last Friday) and found out today that we are not covered for euthanasia as she is over 8yrs old. I phoned to say we had to let her go and the advisor asked if I had given her away!! I either have to keep paying the premium for the next year or If I want to cancel my policy I have to give them everything they issued out back!! all £139 worth. The staff are rude and divert calls to inappropriate departments, who apologise and say how unhelpful customer service is.

I strongly advise against taking insurance out with this company! On the surface it seems to look fine but read very carefully. My dog recently got some grass down his ear! Of course it would be 4:30 on a Saturday and my vet had just closed. He was in terrible pain so it couldn’t wait. I rushed him to the emergency vets - Vets Now, and he was operated on to remove it. Brilliant!
Unfortunately I didn’t know that my insurance company only gives you £45 for emergency vet treatment, it’s in the small print, so as it was £255 just to see a vet before treatment I had to pay the majority of the bill plus my excess of £125 on top plus an admin fee!!! Why bother with insurance like this!! Their response - some vets are cheaper!!! Nope! I checked! Plus this one is the one linked to my vet and is the number given to call. I will be speaking to my vet about this but I found Scratch and Patch most unhelpful. What happens to the poor pets with owners who just can’t afford this! They are probably doing their best and thinking they have an insurance that will protect them against the vet practices that are getting away with ridiculous prices. Together they have us all stitched up!

Do not register with this insurer. They never pay out, fail to respond to any correspondence and the website never works. It's a waste of money, look elsewhere.
