We visited Shangri-la in Blyth for the first time last night, we had a party of 5. The booking process online was straightforward and had a lovely round table in a booth. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and the drinks order was taken quickly. On reading the menu we realised that in addition to the main menu they also did a set menu on a Thursday, 4 courses for £18.50 so we all opted for this. The food was amazing it's been a long time since I've said that about a restaurant and we will definitely be returning. The decor was beautiful and you can tell they have taken a lot of pride in it, the seats were very comfortable and the restaurant had a lovely ambience.
Over the whole night the only negative we had was they didn't have decaf coffee but I'm sure they will take this on board for the future.
You definitely need to add Shangri-la to your list. ❤️

4 Man walk in at 9.15 pm. Pleasant greeting from Fazz asked if we could wait while he prepped a table, 5 mins later we are being seated at a good sized table for 4 blokes.
Ordered drinks which arrived quickly and handed menus.
Plenty of time to look over menus and subsequently ordered staters and main course.
Poppadoms and pickles arrived sampled the roasted and spicy along with the normal all very nice.
Asked if we were ready for mains and they duly arrived and we tucked in.
The meals were flavoursome and tasted as they should very nice indeed.
Staff were friendly and efficient the restaurant was full.
All four of us will return a great night by all would recommend a visit

One of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had, delicious and great portions. Had the chicken tok jal mishti, was sweet with a good amount of spice. Shangri La special mixed starter also beautiful.

Visited on a Friday night (party of 4). Great atmosphere, really nice decor, absolutely amazing food and the staff were really friendly, kind and attentive. Will be definitely going back and will be recommending to friends and family

Edit: We visited here the second time for a family member’s birthday. Unfortunately I had to reduce the score as it took 3h to get served for 8 people. We tried all sorts of curry and most tasted bland as well. The staff members there were friendly and lovely but were very slow. Maybe because we went there on a Monday evening.

14/11/23The curry lacked umami, but the portions were huge, and all the staff there were all nice and efficient. I could tell they’re running their business with pride, it’s nice to see aspirational restaurants like this one.
