My first visit to Skippers was brilliant with the best fish and chips I have had for a very long time. However, the second visit, on Monday late afternoon, was a huge disappointment, for when I got home and unpacked the large cod it was so over cooked that the batter was a mid to dark brown and at least half was hard crackling. I was unable to drive the 5 miles back to complain and seek a replacement. I shall try them again, and this time ask to see the fish before it is packed away out of sight. I suggest that you do the same to avoid disappointment.

Best fish and chips away from the seaside I have had. Batter light and crispy. Not too thick. Fish was fluffy and cooked to perfection. Chips were great. Have now been a few times and got the same consistency and service. Thank you.

First time visit. The shop is clean, has a great menu with lots of choice. The staff are lovely, and it's so nice to hear a manager speaking so well to their staff. Everything was made promptly and fresh. The food was delicious!!! Generous portions and food value. The manager even offered to help with the bag as i use a crutch, so thoughtful!! Unfortunately my sausage was missing from the order, but that was probably distraction of the carnival procession 🙂

Over 45 minute wait for walk-in cod and chips. This was, I believe, due to the large number of online orders coming in so it would be best to order that way as these seem to be prioritised. Customer service training for the staff would be good - an apology for the long wait would have been appreciated. The food is okay,, just disappointed that a single order took so long when there was plenty of cooked food ready in the counter.

Not up to the usual quality. Batter thick and soggy - see pic- and chips were predominantly the thin hard ends. Not great.

Unfriendly, 2nd time got home and some of order missing. The chips are awful, always serving up the horrible small bits of chips, will not be using them anymore they have had enough chances now. Oh, so rude constantly talking in a foreign language in front of customers as if your not there.

Chips cooked fresh, we had great tasting chips, not much of an atmosphere, disappointed there was no fish ready so just bought chips,£4 for a large portion, more than ample for 2 of us

The fish and chips here are or were amazing. We have bought them once a week for a while now. However, the new employee keeps getting our order wrong. Despite it being so easy, nothing complex. Last week she forgot to give us our curry sauce that we paid for and this week she packed our chips with our fish which we always ask to have them separately boxed as we have to drive back with them and if packed in 1 box they go all soggy. She re packed them and in doing so a piece of fish snapped off which was freezing cold when we got home , the other 3 quarters was still red hot. Its such a shame that these mistakes keep happening as we have had our simple order correct before the new employee and they were incredibly nice fish and chips
