Avoid the Matt Black Range
After spending £6,000 on all the matt black range of smeg. Oven Microwave, Hob, Extractor, Kettle and Toaster I contacted customer service regarding the handle on the oven. Its scratches so easily after 6 uses (fitted Aug 24) the silver metal is already coming through. I dread to think what its going to look like in 12 months. The response was its cosmetic but surely an oven should be more durable... it was suggested maybe a ring had caught it (seriously its got about 6 scratches on it). Its obviously not fit for purpose the finish that they use on it and needs to be more hardwearing... I wasn't asking for a refund just a solution on how I can rectify it which is crazy for a £1,000 oven.

This is my brilliant SMEG oven and Microwave purchase 3 years ago! I was so chuffed to finally have one.
This is the state of them after 3 years, and surprisingly I have NOT cooked any radioactive cakes and I do not live by the sea!
Conveniently SMEG UK customer services doesn't seem willing to sort this problem, despite having spent a considerable amount of money!!
Please share!! and DONT BUY ONE!!

Paid £1300 for a fridge which broke down within 10 months, replaced under warranty with an identical fridge which had an identical problem, this one lasted 18 months before failing, called Smeg only to be told the replacement fridge has no warranty at all. An engineer was sent out as a good will gesture but could not repair the problem, then I was told that nothing more could be done. Smeg I understand that under the terms of your warranty you probably did all you had to but there is something seriously wrong with your appliances and I will never buy another of your products again

No reply to phone complaint of faulty dishwasher and an online contact form which doesn't work. Rubbish customer service

If I could give minus stars I would! My daughter purchased a coffee machine for me a year ago and the filter has broken. I called and they said they would replace it for me because it was still in warranty. After six weeks I emailed as no replacement arrived to be told there was a problem with supply, so I was told it would be a few more weeks, which I understood. It's now four months on and I've emailed so many times to be told there is still the same problem!

My warranty runs out in 5 months and I think they are trying to wait it out until then so they don't have to replace it for me.

AVOID smeg because their after sales service is ridiculous! They charge you a fortune for their products, then parts break after a year and they won't replace them!

Poor appliance and customer support I have tried for the last hour seeking help on the website and when you get to the end it does not work . The public are doing all the paper work for them. You cannot speak to a human unless large item , my plastic handle seeping liquid products don't buy

I Bought a SMEG induction oven with 1 year warranty. The oven/hob stopped working after approx. 20 months. I paid for an independent SMEG approved engineer to fix the problem only to be told the appliance should have broken ages ago as the circuit board had been tampered with and is in no way fit for purpose or safe. I tried to call SMEG on multiple occasions and I was advised someone would call me back and to forward this report onto them but even after almost a month of chasing still no resolution. They just advise I contact the place i bought it from but they also refuse to help and say I need to speak to SMEG so im stuck in the middle. This is the second SMEG appliance I have bought that has not lasted beyond 2 years.

Awful. Had a problem with 2yr old £3500 American Style fridge/freezer. Not only did I find out it was manufactured by BEKO [the same spare part ordered through SMEG was 3x the price so my repair guy used the BEKO reference number] but refused warranty claim over paperwork discrepancies. Over £6000 of SMEG appliances in my kitchen and no flexibility what so ever. To cap it all their 'customer service hotline' is an 0845 number so it cost me £15 to call them!!!!! Poor appliances. Awful customer service ... I'm sticking with AEG or BEKO next time.
