What a lovely Spoons pub. Good choice of food and beer. I was there on steak Tuesdays and had the ribeye which was cooked just right. Prices as expected are good here, nice internal decoration and service is very good as well.

Wetherspoons #127 visited (of branches still trading).

I've made many visits to Marlow over the previous months, and every visit since the earlier part of the year I've seen the hoarding up proclaiming the opening of the latest branch.

Originally it was going to be called 'The Brass Thimble' , then 'The Swan Hook' , before the name 'The Grand Assembly' was decided upon.

'The Grand Assembly' is inside the old M&Co store - next door to the Everyman Cinema. About a 10 minute walk from the Train Station and a short walk from Bus stops on the 850 bus route.

Had originally only planned to pop in for two pints and food, landed up staying far longer than planned due to the buzz for this welcome addition to the Wetherspoons chain. I ended up speaking to a number of locals, pleased with the addition of the branch to their area.

Had a pint of Marlow Roasted Nuts beer and a Korean Sticky Chicken Bowl = £11.02.

For a first day of operation, the service was very good and waiting times comparable to more established branches.

Drink arriving within a few minutes, and food in around ten minutes.

I was not expecting perfection on the first day of opening, however my expectations were exceeded.

A highly recommended visit if you are in the Marlow area!

Edit: With six regular guest beers on, you have me as a regular visitor, when in the area.

Disappointed... It was very clean, and had very good prices for Marlow, but it just lacked real atmosphere. Large groups of loud, to rowdy people dominated the middle area. I'm really not anti smoking, but the pavement outside was blocked by selfish people smoking and vaping, and it's a narrow pavement. It's a nice enough Spoons, a great addition for the poor for the town ( I believe Marlow even has an Iceland store somewhere). I even spotted a Travelodge. But the pub was just not hitting the spot.

We made this spoons our destination for today, checking out a new spoons is fun. Lovely food. Busy Saturday afternoon so very busy. Acoustics are bad in here, unless some peeps are deliberately projecting their voices 🧐 📣. As was extremely loud in there.

If you want something cheap and simple, this is the place. Decent food and price, not the best tasting in marlow but feels your tummy. Had the sirloin steak and fish&chips with sides of onion rings and coleslaw (£32 plus 2 soft drinks). Steak cooked nicely, fish was tasty and not greasy. Nice onion rings but coleslaw was a rip off, 3 spoons and it’s gone - not worth the price. Atmosphere was busy for a Monday - probably due to the Monday Club drinks, cheap drinks. But wasn’t too loud where you can’t hear each other. Staff and service was brilliant. Only downside was that table wasn’t cleaned properly. Defo coming back to try their breaky as everyone was raving about it due to the price lol.

Decided to check this newest Weatherspoons pub out in the heart of Marlow, very spacious, very busy, alot of noise as one could expect, nice decor, clean, lovely bar staff and waiting staff, fantastic value for money, two course meal for TWO people with a drink £29, what more could one want!

Came here on the opening night and was impressed with the speed of service as well as the amount of seating. There's the normal excellent spoons menu with something for everyone. The staff were all really friendly and had a lovely meal.

Wetherspoon’s have a great formula and apply an original design concept to each establishment. The Grand Assembly is an historic location in Marlow and the scale and quality of the new premises makes it a fun place for a pint and a snack. Also a pint for £1.79?
