We didn’t stay at the inn but had a wonderful dinner here. I’d love to come back and book a stay in the future.

We had just flown into the UK that day and had been driving for most of the day to get to our accommodation. We finally stopped to find something for dinner in Burford, and since it was pretty late most places were understandably closed.

The owner was so lovely and let us come in since we were there right before the kitchen closed. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so cozy and quaint. At the time they had just gotten done with their renovations and were trying a new menu.

We booked two nights in The Highway Inn to visit Jeremy Clarkson’s new pub, The Farmer’s Dog - which is a 10 min drive away (note - you can’t walk - we thought we could when we booked - but that’s by the by). ||Booked via Booking.com we confirmed the booking over messaging and the owner agreed our estimated arrival time between 10pm-11pm after a 7 hour drive from Glasgow, saying she would pass on a note and said someone would be there at that time. However, when we arrived the door was locked and there was no response to our knocks, phone calls or desperate emails as we feared a night spent in our car due to the time! Chance had it, we bumped into a couple coming back from a pub, who told us if we went to The Bull down the road they would let us in. A relief. However, 30 mins later we were still waiting to get in as the worker at The Bull desperately tried to find our room and our key. Alas we finally got in, but advising we head to The Bull in booking communications and / or advising where the room key was to The Bull might have been nice and staved off our fear and worry upon turning up to a locked door. ||To be fair, the owner was mortified by the situation and very kindly offered us a breakfast which we had not booked on our second morning to make up for it. This was delicious and went some way to making up for our arrival. ||Beyond this, the location of the hotel is central in Burford - a beautiful little town and hotel itself is wonderfully decorated and the breakfast was sublime. Our only complain in the room was that the hand soap dispenser was empty so we had to move the shower gel dispenser from the shower to use for hand washing. ||Note - they did mention that the hotel has just re-opened so they above may be teething problems, and so I wasn’t going to type this review, but the worry upon arriving was so awful I just don’t want others to experience it.

Just visited the newly refurbished Highway Inn, Burford. £12.50 for a very ordinary house wine, this is just plain greedy, exploiting the tourist trade. The lad behind the bar was surly, drinking area shrunk, priority given to food as usual. Will not be returning. Very disappointing.

My partner sat outside and asked for a coffee. He was told by a female member of staff that they didn't serve coffee and told him to g o over the road. Never asked if he would like something else, just dismissed him. Obviously she couldn't he bothered with an elderly gentleman.

What a lovely stay we had at the Highway Inn whilst visiting from Zambia. What made it more special, were the staff - so friendly and welcoming. The rooms, extremely comfortable and cosy. The breakfast was just perfect. Thank you !!! We will definitely be back, and highly recommend it.

Lovely bar, restaurant, hotel in beautiful Burford. We stayed in a lovely sized room with en-suite bathroom. I believe the hotel is now being closed for 4 months for a refurb. Hopefully they keep the character of the building as it is. The lovely Charlotte is an absolute credit to the place. So friendly, professional and helpful and Hilary was a joy at breakfast time too. Hopefully these two will still be there when we come back again next year for the Festival.

We had a lovely stay here for a couple of nights in January 24. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The place has a very relaxed feel which was what we were looking for on this trip. I understand the Inn is closing for a revamp this year but my room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was lovely. We paid for B&B which includes a continental breakfast with an additional cooked menu at charge. However this is not expensive. I did have one issue but it was resolved with no quibble from staff who responded very professionally, I was really impressed. The hotel location is good as it's right on the high street. There is no parking at hotel but I parked my car for free for the whole stay on the opposite side of the road to the hotel. Burford has a lovely High Street with independent shops which we enjoyed browsing. We also booked some treatments at The Studio beauty salon on the High Street which were a real treat.

We've just returned from a lovely long weekend at The Highway Inn. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, service was friendly and efficient. We at in the bar on a couple of occasions, and the food was better than expected. The chef certainly knows what they're doing. The breakfast is "continental" in name only, there's plenty on offer to fill the hungriest tummy, and if you are pushing the boat out there's cooked options available for a reasonable price.
