What a lovely pub - we'd booked a table for 5 and despite having a heaving bar and far more customers than normal we were served with kindness and a promptness that made our Xmas eve dinner all the more pleasant. The food choice was good, the beer cold and the desserts were excellent!

Lunch with the ladies today, and it’s our first visit to The Nelson but what a lovely experience. Newly refurbished with lovely staff and a great chef made for a memorable visit. 2 of us had the soul food vegetation curry, with home made poppadoms and tempura veg. I had the pan fried sea bream with fondant potatoes, fine beans and red pepper compote, and we unanimously agreed both dishes were beautiful to look at and wonderful to eat. For dessert 2 of us had the creme brûlée and I had the chocolate slice. Not a mouthful left on a plate, and there were not small portions,, but they were so lovely we couldn’t resist cleaning our plates. We’ll all be back together and with family.

Headline | had the most amazing time, food was amazing, staff were top notch, couldn't do enough for you, everyone in there was soo friendly even though we was passing through and not from the area.

The food was spot on, not too posh and cooked to perfection. The steaks look amazing, but I had a lovely chicken burger. Portions are big, so it's value for money. Drinks were reasonable for today's prices. Kid friendly with high chairs and kids menu.

The portions are quite big, as I've said above, but they do have a bar snacks menu that can be consumed in the restaurant.

The atmosphere was incredible. There were live musicians playing on the piano, chello, and guitar, which was incredible such a nice sound.

The staff were impeccable, which is hard to come by these days, so helpful and caring, polite and attentive.

Really do highly recommend this please even the regular drinkers were just soo friendly and pleased to see you there.

The food was OK, the chicken and salmon were very dry, unfortunately, and lacked flavour too. The customers at the bar were also swearing quite loudly and we had a child with us, the waitress did apologise but unfortunately the lady behind the bar did nothing about it despite him being in front of her. Not very keen on the price of this place for the atmosphere. The waitress who served us is this places saving grace.

We booked in for an evening meal during Norfolk Restaurant Week having never been to The Nelson before. We were not disappointed at all. Our waitress, was very attentive and we were sat at our table straight away with drinks delivered quickly. For starters we had the halloumi and the pork bon bons, both dishes were delicious and presented beautifully. Our mains of beef short rib and the steak arrived quickly, and were equally delicious. The short rib was so tender and fell off the bone, the steak was like butter and melted in my mouth! Dessert for my husband was creme brulee and he assured me it was the best he had ever had (and he's had a lot!). Every dish was presented beautifully and cooked perfectly. The waitress was so lovely, and appeared genuinely happy that we had enjoyed our meal. We would highly recommend The Nelson to anyone who enjoys an excellent meal in a nice village pub.

New management apparently and very good value. Last time we went it £18 for a burger and chips. The seafood platter was the same price but so much more food and value for money. I ate it all but honestly half the amount would have been enough.
