Went for a celebratory lunch for two. Lovely setting, especially on a sunny day. Service is friendly without being familiar, attentive but not in your face. Menu highlighting seasonal local produce. Our food was as good as we have had anywhere. Wine list is extensive. Highly recommended.

I can only comment on our experience in the restaurant for a very special occasion with my son on Saturday lunchtime. Unfortunately I left feeling sad as the whole experience was tainted when a 'member of staff' said that if my invaluable service dog made another sound then he would be asked to leave! We were in fact considerably quieter than the screaming child on the table next to ours! The service was incredibly slow - nearly an hour for our main course to arrive. The food was fine but the atmosphere was uncomfortable to say the least and that should be part of the overall experience. We are unlikely to be returning.

Lovely food, great cocktails and excellent service. Highly recommended.
Only a slight negative and it's picky but the dining felt cramped and a little over tabled... A little more space would have been nice.

I was looking for somewhere to stay for my partner's "special birthday" & The Pig looked to fit the bill.|Really pleased I booked as we had such a lovely time.|We stayed in a "comfy room" in the courtyard square which was lovely and quiet.|Good size, bed was very comfortable & walk in shower which is great when you're a tad older :-)|Complimentary water, some chocolate treats and they had also given my partner a couple of celebration treats, nice touch!|I really like the vibe of the place. Very relaxing & we really enjoyed our meal in the restaurant on the second night, delicious. Also was impressed by the bar, as they had more than the standard hotel drinks, and the buzz was great|I've seen some reviews that said staff weren't around or friendly, but we had the complete opposite experience. They were wonderful! From the reception, to the bar, to the restaurant , all helpful, smiling people. |We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and if you're looking for somewhere special to stay I recommend it.

We were very disappointed in our lunch at The Pig Brockenhurst. The service was poor, and the food was underwhelming and overpriced. They made a big deal of bringing a basket of locally made bread to the table and proceeded to give each of us half a slice from it, which felt humiliating. We had to stop a staff member to beg for another later in the meal. You could have broken a tooth on the bland pork cracklings, and while the locally sourced smoked trout was lovely it was described as having a relish but was plated with just some thinly sliced pickled cucumber. The chocolate tarte at the end tasted no different from what you might purchase at the supermarket. Our server seemed stretched among tables and having a hard time keeping up. They even made an error on our bill. It felt like the management is cutting corners here keeping the prices high. We won't be back.

Overall fantastic experience! The food was amazing, loved how they focus on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients. I particularly loved the gardens and decor. The staff made us feel very special as celebrated our engagement. Thank you for everything, I could not recommend the Pig in the forest enough!

We have been coming here most years since they opened in 2011 and over that time I think of only once we didn't have a particularly good meal but that was some time ago now. I booked early to ensure a NYD lunch as many restaurants don't open on this day. |The day before I looked again at the website to peruse the menus and I happened to see the TA reviews posted recently. Not sure what has happened recently but there have been quite a few negative posts so we were a tad apprehensive considering switching to Lime Wood but we held fire and said how often we had really good lunches here. |I'm going to say wholeheartedly ignore those negative posts. The room when we arrived was already pretty full of customers celebrating NYD. Drinks were ordered quickly and delivered by the young team. Food order was taken and their lovely sourdough devoured. The standout dishes were the delicious and very accurately cooked mackerel, unctuous goose leg and sweet chestnut cream. Chips are very good. The only dish that needed a bit of work was the char grilled cabbage which was a bit soggy and very little char flavour. Their own Italian Tuscan red wine is outstanding. The wine list here is excellent and compared to London very fairly priced. One thing I think would be beneficial would be for the plentiful members of staff to have slightly more awareness. When returning from delivering food scan the tables to see if anyone is trying to get your attention. Something taught to me on my very first day when starting in the restaurant business. |So well done everybody involved and keep your heads high!

Having booked to stay nearby we thought we would explore a different Pig, as our local one is in Coombe. We just wanted to let you know what exceptional and friendly service we received from Jack, our waiter. It really was refreshing to be served by someone who clearly enjoys his job so thank you very much. The restaurant is beautiful and we had a wonderful lunch, by far the best gnocchi we have ever had. It was so utterly delicious we ordered another one to share!
