We popped in for a coffee, mid Monday morning. Plenty of seats available.
The black forest roulade tempted me, I was glad it did. It was delicious.
The atmosphere was nice, though decor a little dated, but that's the charm of a tea room.
I found the staff friendly and efficient.
Prices are on the high side, but we would spend similar in well-known coffee chains, and that's without table service, so I thought acceptable. Whether I could afford lunch there.... I'll let you know next time I'm in town.

Amazing please come food superb but what make this place even more special is the group of young people front of the house and invisible in the kitchen .As we went on Monday 17/03/2025 young man with retro sideburns and mustash he has a wicked sense of humour and is very sharp.Followed by all other professional and welcoming service.Kudos i really appreciate the kind and respectful humanity as intelligent customer service

We have been to Polly countless times. They used to serve beautiful extraordinary cakes (you can see them in the pictures posted years ago) and we enjoyed every time we visited. However it was changed a few years ago and their cakes are no longer anything special, just ordinary. It's a pity, but what's even worse is the price. They charged astonishing £5.90 per slice! It could be acceptable if it was a large piece like they used to serve, but what we got was totally normal size, even though they described as 'Large' cake. It was a joke. We mentioned it to the staff and she replied 'That's the size we were told to serve. There is nothing we can do.' rather unfriendly. We mentioned our disappointment when we paid on the way out. The staff at the casher said 'A lot of people said that. We receive a lot of complaints.'. Well, they have to do something then if they don't want to damage their reputation. I'm sorry, but we definitely won't be back any more. There are much much better places in Marlborough and I'm sure many people agree judging by a lot of poor reviews.

The place is pretty and the cakes are nice. However, I came with my granddaughter on her birthday specifically because the website offered a children's high tea. I had shown my granddaughter pictures and she was very excited. We drove all the way from Reading. So, we were disappointed when we got there because we were told the menu on the website was not current and they did not know how to update it. Although the cake was nice, I can get cake in Reading. I wouldn't have driven a 6 year old all that way if I had known.

We had the pan fried salmon with wild rice and watercress sauce, steak and ale pie, and also two slices of cakes. The cakes were the chocolate fudge and the rainbow cake. All of them were delicious. The reason for 4 stars is due to very long waiting time. We waited for 40 minutes for the food to come out and my tea was already cold by then. The restaurant still had a few empty tables (60% full), so I’m not sure what the hold up was due to. Other customers were also complaining due to the wait time. I definitely wouldn’t recommend coming on busy periods.

We didn't eat here as everything seemed very expensive!
Wouldn't have minded so much if staff had been friendlier; the China more exciting than white China & tea leaves instead of tea bags!!
Really wanted to show my friend this tearoom as years ago it was delightful, but we were both really disappointed.
