It's ok. I was served this stout though. I would personally have been too embarrassed to serve it. Poured too quickly and no proper head.

Response to reply:

Interesting take - nowhere in my review did I compare it to Guinness so I don't know why you've chosen to compare it. A stout should have a substantial head.

I visited here a few weekends ago for my cousin's 40th birthday party. He had booked out the function room. We had a great time. The staff were fantastic. The food was lovely. The low alcohol beer - Adnams Ghost Ship - was a tasty beer and one I hadn't come across before.
This is a well run establishment. Clean, well maintained with great staff.
I will definitely visit again when I'm next in the area.

But on another note… if I was living in a normal situation.. which is still available under certain circumstances….
I have had a night out in the Red Lion… a while back now … and I have to say I had a good night in there see a couple of former work colleagues…
The person who runs this pub in era where the trade is finding it tough to survive.. is constantly evolving the pubs output in regards to activities and things that are available.. to drink and eat.. I would say that this person really knows what they are doing…🤔😊

Favorite spot for a drink in Manningtree, like that the pub provide cutlery etc allowing to bring food there. As they do not serve food themselves. Good events too.

Lovely old pub, lot's of snug rooms, two winged leather armchairs in front a wood burning stove. Just needs a chess board. Lovely. (Unique urinals!)

Lovely Real Ale Pub. With lots of different areas to sit . This pub doesn't serve food, but you can take some in with you, and there's plenty of takeaway places nearby.
Lovely, chatty lady serving. Cheerful atmosphere, friendly locals.
Great garden!
