We visited The Spicy Mare while staying on Exmoor for a long weekend.
It is a quaint little shop with a small, but delicious menu! We had Chana Masala, rice, naans, poppadoms and mango chutney. Food is served in a tiffin that you return afterwards- we really loved this eco-friendly touch!

The food was absolutely delicious, so fresh & full of flavour! The cinnamon rice was to die for & the mango chutney was perfect.

We chose to go here as it has such amazing reviews (and the smell from the store as we walked past was irresistible!) and the reviews don’t lie, it really is as good as everyone says! Really lovely little gem & would definitely visit again when in the area.

5/5 on taste and quality. πŸ‘Œ

The food is very comforting and delicately spiced, which gives a very balanced flavour.

Most of the dishes available are fully vegan.

The prices are very reasonable.

There's also a possibility of getting the food to take away in a tiffin, cute as. 😍

Excellent curry, lots of different spice flavours and fragment rice. Nice personal experience. We sent a WhatsApp Saturday morning to pre order. When collecting in the evening we were felt very welcomed and enjoyed the tiffin experience. Returned the tiffins on Monday. Thanks!

The Spicy Mare truly knows how to tantalise taste buds with their Indian foods. I had Pilau Rice with Lamb Rogan Josh and Spinach Dal. The Lamb Rogan Josh was a burst of flavours, so tasty and truly authentic. The Pilau Rice and Spinach Dal were the perfect sides, adding depth to the meal. And that Mango Chutney was a delightful touch of sweetness. A must-visit spot for anyone craving delicious Indian food in Lynton and Lynmouth.

We walked past here whilst visiting Lynton, the door was open and the smell amazing, we did our sighting and went back for 3pm when it would reopen. She is open from 5pm for hot food, we bought 3 dishes and a rice and took them back to the Motorhome for later that night. Amazing food, would highly recommend. The Spicy Mare is a one woman enterprise and we’re so glad we walked that way!!

Had a long weekend in Exmoor and stumbled upon this little Indian spot in Lynton called The Spicey Mare - what a find! Had the Goan pork curry, side dish daal and rice. The meat was really tender it melted in the mouth and the spices were on point too; proper comfort food.

Also bought a couple of the chutneys; Mango Lime chutney is seriously addictive. Might need to go back for more...

The owner is really lovely, super friendly and you can tell she really knows her stuff when it comes to Indian food. Chatting with her, found out the chutney is short listed for an award, definitely deserves to win we will keep fingers crossed for her!

If you're in Lynton and craving a good curry or want to stock up on some killer Indian condiments, The Spicey Mare's got you covered. It's a tiny place, but don't let that fool you - the flavors are big.

Excellent curry freshly made on the premises by the lovely friendly and helpful owner in a fabulous little shop which smells gorgeous. Highly recommend if you are in the area. You have to collect daytime and refrigerate for later. One meat option and one veg option available with all the extras and home made chutneys and raita.
