We did a walk-in recently last minute while over this way. Nice pub, old British style decor, and the biggest menu I've ever seen! Good choices and prices on the menu and separate special board.
Just had a small starter each of prawn cocktail and soup, which was tasty and quick serve. They have a large free carpark and great garden area to sit in. Would recommend and look forward to revisiting and trying more of the menu.

Food is fantastic, my other half and I eat out a fair amount but struggle to find places that have consistently good food. Popped in today for lunch and the food was spot on, I had the monkfish and my partner the steak. Will 100% return.

We had our 12 year anniversary meal here my husband had the delicious lamb and I had the super tasty pork. Can't wait to go again service was great and I love the traditional feel of this proper English pub.

Made a late booking for Sunday lunch and found the welcome, service and food simply wonderful. Prices were surprisingly reasonable as well. Everything one would want from a country pub.

Dined here on the evening of 24 July, 2024. There were no available tables in the main restaurant when I telephoned to make the reservation but we were nonetheless glad to be offered a table in the bar area. We both ordered the sirloin steak and, I’m afraid to say, this was the worst steak either of us had ever been served. Both were chewy and around 50% fat. Despite the restaurant being fairly quiet by this time and the bar area empty, there was no curtesy check after the mains were served and we never saw a serving staff member until after we’d sat for 10 minutes of finishing our half eaten meals. Eventually when the waitress arrived to remove our plates, she didn’t bother to ask if we’d enjoyed our meal (clearly not since we’d left half the steaks) but asked if we’d like desserts! Told her that we’d have loved to have had desserts but based on the poor quality of the mains, we wouldn’t. To which she replied “Our butcher doesn’t make our desserts”! We asked for the bill and this was given to us with partial adjustment made for the steaks. However, we both left feeling very disappointed with both the food and service as we’ve always previously had very good experiences here.

My favourite restaurant varied menu using seasonal produce I really like the contrast between the traditional dimly lit pub and the panoramic bright restaurant .The food and wine are excellent

Stumbled on this place on the way back to Headcorn. Such a great oldy worldy atmosphere and really good beer. We bumped into friends who unbeknownst to us had been going to this pub for 30+years and swear it's the best in Kent!
