I attended the Two day course, just over a week ago, and really enjoyed it. I had never done any welding previously, but had done some Copper Plumbing and Stained Glass, so this was a new experience for me.
A perfect mix of technical instruction and practical learning. Richard has a lovely training manner, both professional and encouraging.
I felt very at ease to ask questions, and a small group environment worked very well.
Having attended this course, I now have a base to work on, and an application of what skills and equipment are required. I could quite see myself ‘booking a bench’, to do a small project at the Weld Space premises. I used the Premier Inn paid parking, which is just over the road. Several options for lunch, and by starting at 10:00Hrs, I didn’t get caught-up in the morning ‘Work traffic’, coming from Tavistock. 10/10 from me, and I definitely recommend this course if you’ve a practical nature and just want to ‘have a go’.
If you pitch-up early, there’s a great Bakery on the same site, just 40m walk. Great coffee, and sour bread…..

This is the perfect course for the hobby welder or anyone wanting to try welding out without committing to a full time course. The class is a maximum of four people and over the two days Richard guided us through MIG, TIG &MMA welding, with practical experience of each type at our individual workstations. Following that, we started the project of building a workshop chair, carrying out every step of the fabrication process, from cutting the material through cleaning for welding and assembly. All of which equipped me with the knowledge needed to successfully carry out projects at home.
An enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience, Richard is an excellent tutor and with only four students everyone gets enough input from him.

Also, Weld Space is located very near hotels and restaurants, so convenient if staying overnight.

It was a 400+ mile round trip for me, but totally worth it!

I did two 3hr TIG welding sessions as a beginner and really benefited from it. Richard is extremely knowledgeable and very good at getting the information across through a relaxed style of tuition. The Weld Space is a small fairly intimate venue where there is room only for a small number of students and you benefit greatly from one to one time as a result. You get to use really nice quality R-Tech machines into the bargain. Highly recommended if you are starting out or if you want to improve your skill. I had a great time.

Richard is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. He set up a bespoke training session for me to explore the capabilities of my own TIG welder which I found very useful. If you are new to welding or reasonably experienced but want some concentrated practise with tips, hints and tuition, Richard is your man. Thoroughly recommended.

Did the 2 day course and found it incredibly informative and helpful. Complete novice welder and left with the confidence to build upon my experience by starting a small project (loads of resources offered on Richard's blog in this regard). Great communication both before and after the course and could not recommend enough. Also liked the 'hands on' practical approach with theory limited to basic principles which was ideal.

The two day introduction to welding course was a great experience. Rich is a fantastic teacher and made the weekend really enjoyable. I came to the course with zero experience and left with a good grounding in the different welding methods and a usable chair! Would happily recommend!

Absolutely excellent day. Richard really knows his onions and the course was pitched perfectly for beginners, and delivered with good humour, with great support through the weld-it-yourself part of the course too. Highly recommended!
