Liked: Site was very clean and well maintained. Shop was well stocked with more than just essentials. Located near to a lovely hotel/pub serving good food and it was dog friendly. Great walks from the site. Site had everything we needed and staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Noise from A66 was consistent but not unbearable!

Liked: Facilities, good toilets and shop. Site layout was good. Loved the animals. Added bonus of Antiques barn and garden centre. Perfect venue for visiting all the local castles and beyond.

Disliked: Sorry, you cant get away from the site being on the A66 and constant traffic noise , but atleast it made it easy to get to places and no long country roads!

Liked: Friendliness of staff upon checkin and during visiting the shop and restaurant. Children's play area next to the restaurant area is a nice play area.
Toilet area next to pitches very clean and efficient.
Friendly and quiet site.
Kids enjoyed themselves on the tyre swings in the middle of the site.
Only thing i that was a problem for us was our hook up lead didnt reach the electric as it was in the spot next door but one to our pitch, but the staff offered an extension to lend if we needed it.

The place its self was lovely but I had belongings taken from the shower blocks and an air tag attached to my caravan which I luckily found and discarded before it was tracked to storage. There also wasn’t a lot of entertainment at the time but I had heard they were working on a soft play so the petting zoo was closed. Very quiet but good for dog walks. Be wary of caravan thief’s around the barnard castle area.

The site is friendly and has good amenities. The cafe , shop & reclamation barn are fabulous. Great place for kids and couples. We liked it so much we decided to book a seasonal pitch. Our granddaughter loves the play park plus the freedom to roam safely with her new friends. Yes it’s next to the busy a66 but as I lived under the flight path at a busy airport it didn’t bother me.

I can honestly say I will definitely not be returning. I first came to this site years ago when they were just starting to put static caravans on the site at the time we stayed next to a lake it was lovely, so over the Easter hols I thought let's go there again. I wish I read the reviews first. We booked for five nights and stayed for four would have left the same night as we got there but we thought it's cost us to stay so let's just hang in. Firstly the site is so uneven we were on a bank so we spent most of the night trying to stop sliding down the bed. And trying to make a meal was a nightmare because you had to try to stop things from falling off the table. The traffic on the A66 never stopped. I'm glad I came home just to get some sleep. When asked why we were leaving early the only thing the staff could say it does state on web page about the traffic. No you don't state that you have put tents so very near to the A66, so don't expect to get any sleep. As she also said the people that pay yearly get the best pitches. The toilet block was clean. Never went to the cafe or the shop so can't comment on them.

I never write reviews but don’t want others to make the same mistake. The staff are lovely facilities ok- good, but If you have a tent do not stay here!!!! All tents seem to get put against the wall which is meters from the A66….yes it says it on the website but what if doesn’t say is that it’s so loud you have to shout to have a conversation with each other because the road traffic is so loud! I don’t mind not sleeping because of it but when I can’t hear my kids talk unless they shout or I’m right next to them that’s not good. Also the porch was bumpy the showers were fine but had on off so couldn’t control the temperature and there wasn’t many and one was out of order. Nice site but terrible for tents and being able to hear nature or have any peace and quiet.

I stayed at thorpe farm for a couple of years on a seasonal caravan pitch. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a shop, cafe and gift shop here. They have also just opened a garden centre on the site. There is plenty to do and some good walks around the animal enclosures. They also host event nights on a weekend including themed food nights quiz night and bingo night.
