This convention has conned a cosplayer out of money that she won in their competition fair and square. Their reasoning was she knew someone within the competition and was therefore disqualified 9 WEEKS LATER when this wasn't in their T&C's and she didn't know anyone who judged the competition either. A cheapskate company who won't admit they aren't paying winners because they don't have the money. Disgraceful really.

First con I attended was in 2008. I used to do a lot of events. More than I can count.

I cannot think of ANY event I have been to, in the UK or overseas, that has refused to pay an agreed prize to a winner for over two months and then re-writes the rules to disqualify them when they're challenged on it. Then, when further challenged on Facebook after posting a very misleading statement on the matter, proceeds to delete comments and block people from engaging further.

Dreadful. A disgrace to the UK convention and cosplay scene.

Scammed the winners of the costume competition out of their prize money. Removed the first place winner for going public with the con's inability to pay prizes, invented a contradictory rule after the fact to pretend it was acceptable to deny money to contest winners, and offered second place the first prize money instead. Deleted every comment on their Facebook post regarding this, then turned off the Facebook review feature when they started receiving negative reviews over this situation. Con artists running a con.

There is a reason why they call it a con, and it’s not because it’s a convention. Scammed a cosplayer out of their win - didn’t pay prize money for months and when challenged, they changed the rules of the competition as to ‘disqualify’ the winner, then proceeded to slander her and remove any comments from people that questioned their behaviour. The epitome of unprofessionalism and a disgrace to the community.

Couldn't follow through after a dodgy curry.
If you lure in people to a competition with the promise of money and they win, pay them. Don't make stupid rules post competition which are both irrelevant, stupid and not in the t&c just to avoid paying.

Disgustingly unprofessional, I hope you never have another convention again.

The only thing that's 'Warped' about this event is the way the organisers have screwed the cosplay competition winners out of their prize money! These guys definitely put the 'Con' in 'Convention'!! Really shoddy behaviour and attitude from the organisers, any self-respecting cosplayer will steer clear of their events in future.

Management tried to weasel out of paying the prize money for their competitions. They also apparently treat vendors and subcontractors poorly. I'm all in favour of supporting local conventions, but not one run by these people. Avoid.

Can't stick to their promises, change their rules to try and weasel out of paying someone prize money they won fair and square AND when they get called out, they just delete every single comment with lightning speed and turn off their Facebook reviews. Too bad you can't turn Google Reviews off, mhm?
