Westminster Bridge offers one of the best panoramic views in London, stretching across the River Thames with landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye in sight. Built in the mid-18th century and later renovated, the bridge carries a rich historical charm while remaining a busy pedestrian and traffic route. The green-painted ironwork complements the nearby Parliament, creating a picturesque setting. Whether walking across during the day or enjoying the illuminated cityscape at night, it’s a spot that truly captures the essence of London.

Tourist attraction and beautifully lit bridge. Its popularity is mainly comes from access to Big Ben and Westminster abbey on one side and London eye on this other side. It’s lovely to walk over the bridge especially at night. I was lucky to stay in the county hall Marriott this time with great river view.

Always a bit afraid to walk here since the terrorist attack a few years ago, and I believe some policemen here would be welcomed. However, it’s an unmissable bridge and where you can get lovely pictures from the Big Ben and the House of Parliament, the London Eye, the river…
It’s always very, very crowded. Wear a bag with zipper and hide your valuables.

An iconic stop while in London! We visited during the day and at night, both give you two different views of the city’s most iconic landmarks!

We actually watched the fireworks from this bridge during the Mayor of London NYE celebration and I loved how they had bathrooms set up, as well as food for sale!

Here you can enjoy views of the Thames river, the London Eye, and Big Ben. No entrance fee is needed to access the bridge!

Love Westminster Bridge area! Love its history, the access available to public transport, buses, tube station, also river cruises, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the London Eye, and many other attractions.

One of London's most famous bridges, designed by Thomas Page and opened in 1862. The bridge features seven arches, the highest number of any bridge over the Thames.
Tower Bridge may be the more iconic structure, but amongst London viewpoints, Westminster Bridge's view of the Palace of Westminster with the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) is hard to beat.
The bridge carries motorised, cycle and pedestrian traffic, though its location means it can get very busy, so be careful not to obstruct the path while trying to get the perfect picture.

It replaced a 15-arch structure built in 1750 that historians consider a masterpiece of its time. The bridge takes its name from the borough of Westminster in which it sits. After a twelve-year construction project, the new bridge opened on the 24th of May 1862. This happened to be Queen Victoria’s 45th birthday! However, the Queen didn’t actually attend the event because she was still in mourning over the death of Prince Albert three years earlier.

The first Westminster Bridge opened in 1750 and was only the second crossing over the river in Central London after London Bridge. In 1862 the original bridge was replaced with the bridge we have now, designed by Thomas Page. It was famously painted green in 1970 to match the seats in the House of Commons, the part of the Palace of Westminster closest to the bridge.

This is also the spot for your kitschy London souvenir needs. Indeed there are a handful of large stalls seemingly bursting at the seams with Union Jack bags, postcards, fridge magnets, football scarves, t-shirts, Paddington Bear toys, and miniature red telephone boxes

The modern bridge was also used in a couple of James Bond films (Spectre and Die Another Day)

This is a bridge crossing the River Thames, connecting the Palace of Westminster and Lambeth. The current bridge, a Victorian-era iron structure, opened in 1862, replacing the original bridge built in 1750. It was designed by Thomas Page, with decorations by Charles Barry. The lower parts of the arches are painted green, symbolizing the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. Comprising seven arches, the bridge offers stunning views along the River Thames. In the early years of the London Marathon, it served as the finishing line.
