Heard you he food from this funky food shack was incredible and it doesn't disappoint!

We drove to the spot in Exmouth where each Friday they set up outside Moores Pasties at Dinan Way industrial estate.

There was a big queue formed when we rocked up. Plenty of parking as the normal business on the Industrial estate are closed as we arrived at just after 6pm.

They are open from 04:30 till 8pm.

This was our first ever meal from Yamza to went fir the Yamza special. OMG, it was so delicious with 16 hour smoked charsui pork belly burnt ends, slowly braised sweet & sour chicken, general tso's Yamza, fried chicken, crispy salsa, crispy confit hoisin duck ball, goma Asian slaw with n a bed of steamed Jasmine rice. It was incredible and tasted so, so nice.

We also decided to get 1 box of garlic &
crispy chilli pieces and that share between the two of us with the two specials was plenty.

We are going to try the Belly Port meal next and cannot wait!

Fantastic food, something interesting and different and the cuisine of Eastern inspired street food and as so refreshing to try.

I often say in life 'what is the point of having principles' if you are not willing to stick by them. Ed and his staff to my mind have three essential principals and boy do they stick to them!

First is vision – taking Middle Eastern food and drawing the best of Asian cuisine is genius – it is novel but also hugely successful. Principle number one – tick!

Second is consistency – now this must come from week in week out, every dish as good as the last as well as every different dish offering something that make you think’ hmm that might be my favourite but…’ Everything I have tried has been amazing, different if flavour and texture from the regular dishes to the specials, from the savoury to the sweets. They do have quite a limited menu and I reckon this is to their advantage – every dish shines, every dishes is a delight, always.

Finally – the principle of customer service – those peoepl are busy, sometimes it is wet and cold, sometimes people are impatient, the staff just keep smiling and maintain their enthusiasm – again this gives it a special experience.

These three principles are an excellent ‘yamzaj’
Nothing is perfect and if I could make two minor comments, first sometime sit is REALLY busy and you might have to wait, remember you are waiting for excellent freshly prepared food – I spoke with Ed about this and I know he had plans to increase the fryers. My second comment is ‘salt’ – things are bursting with flavour and sometimes can feel a tad too salty – I think for me it is a treat and I don’t mind but maybe take it a notch back?

But this clearly is the best takeaway in Exeter, maybe the best takeaway I have ever had? And I havnt even mentioned the sauces which are also fabulous. I really think it is. What Ed and team deserve and what we deserve is a proper full-on sit-down restaurant and I hope, in time, that that will become a reality.

Ed and team thank you for making the occasional Monday evening a delight on the palate in our house.

First time trying Yamza tonight after seeing their truck pulled up every week out side of my children’s school for months! Was not disappointed- I had the pork belly teriyaki bowl and it was amazing. Recommend for a great treat! Friendly team and hardly any wait at all. 5*’s👍🏻

Haven’t tried to main menu yet, but from a recommendation from a friend we wanted to try something so we tried the sweet from tonight which was sticky toffee sponge, with butterscotch sauce, roasted nuts and custard.

Oh my god. It’s easily the best pudding I’ve ever tried. And I’ve tried a lot. You can taste every flavour. Every bit compliments the other. Gorgeous. Ed knows what he is doing 200%! And the lady who served us was so polite and professional. Top class.
